At Sue Gregor we've made a range of tropical, leafy, contemporary perspex jewellery which is inspired by palm trees on Sue's recent holiday! She loves the way the leaves show up against the dark background and wanted to make a necklace to remind us of those long hot summer nights sitting on verandas in the tropics. Something to hold on to in the dark days of winter!
The jewellery collection is made using real conifer leaves which are collected from paths of Sue Gregor's garden. Every piece is individually hand-crafted. The flora and fauna are collected, dried and pressed then used to create the designs. The process developed by Sue Gregor is reminiscent of fossils, as the fine detail, including even the veins of the leaves, show on the embossed surface of the acrylic. The leaves perish in the process so each piece is unique as all leaves and flowers differ from all others.
Sue Gregor first began designing and making contemporary jewellery in 2005, using a combination of acrylic and wild flora and flauna to unique effect. Having experienced a difficult spell in her life, Sue’s comfort and inspiration was drawn from the beauty of nature. By harnessing the serenity of nature in her work, Sue hopes to inspire those who wear her jewellery.
