Portrait of Bonnie Prince Charlie, whom Charles Radcliffe (Radclyffe), owner of Langley Castle, supported in the Second Jacobite Rebellion in 1745 - an action for which he lost his life when beheaded at the Tower of London. Charles and his brother, James, also supported the First Jacobite Uprising and the March on Preston, in 1715. James was captured and beheaded at The Tower, whilst Charles escaped to France. The brothers are remembered at Langley Castle Hotel with their story in the Drawing Room and through the Radcliffe Room, named after them.
