The mural in the coffee shop depicts founder Shatha Almutawa’s grandfather, Abdallah Almutawa. He was a lover of books and knowledge. As a child, he dreamt of studying at Al-Azhar University in Cairo. He snuck onto a ship, hoping to reach Egypt and begin his studies. The ship, however, was headed to Iran, so instead he learned some English and Farsi. He had a library of books that he cherished in his home, and he gave his love for learning to his son, and ultimately to his granddaughter, who founded the center.
