Multi-site AV integration supports evolving broadcast requirements and matchday revenue strategies across the English Football League.

Bolton, UK – TVC Technology Solutions has completed a large-scale AV integration project for the English Football League (EFL), delivering a coordinated rollout of Sky Q systems across 30 clubs in partnership with Uniguest. The project is one of the highest profile sporting installs for the brand and follows an extensive AV makeover project across multiple environments of the brand’s home team, Bolton Wanderers.

The project was commissioned in response to changes in TV broadcast regulations, alongside a broader shift within the EFL toward maximising matchday and non-matchday revenue. By enabling clubs to showcase live football throughout concourses, bars and hospitality spaces in an easier manner, the new AV infrastructure supports a more engaging fan journey. In practical terms, this encourages supporters and hospitality guests to arrive earlier, remain on-site longer and make greater use of food, drink and premium facilities, to directly contribute to increasing per-head spend.

The rollout required a consistent yet adaptable approach across all 30 sites, each with its own legacy infrastructure, spatial constraints and operational requirements. Over the course of a year, TVC worked closely with individual club stakeholders to design and deploy systems that could be integrated into existing environments while delivering a uniform standard of performance.

At the core of each installation is a Sky Q distribution architecture, configured to deliver high-definition content reliably across multiple screens and zones. Systems were designed to support simultaneous viewing across a range of areas, from large concourse display networks to more contained hospitality suites and executive boxes.

Signal distribution and control formed a critical part of the solution. TVC implemented structured AV-over-IP and matrix-based distribution systems where appropriate, ensuring content could be routed efficiently across each venue without signal degradation. Centralised or localised control interfaces were introduced depending on site requirements, allowing staff to switch between live broadcasts, highlights and promotional content with minimal training.

Leveraging TVC’s extensive experience in hospitality venues, the rollout included upgrades to display infrastructure to maximise visibility and impact. In certain instances where clubs requested specific AV add-ons, high-brightness commercial displays were deployed in concourse and bar areas to maintain image clarity in challenging lighting conditions, while more discreet screen installations were used within hospitality environments to balance viewing quality with aesthetic considerations.

Two typical deployment scenarios illustrate the flexibility of the solution. In larger stadium concourses, TVC installed multi-screen display arrays fed by a centralised Sky Q headend, enabling synchronised live match coverage across high-footfall areas. This ensures fans remain connected to the action even when away from their seats. This encourages trips to get food, drink and merchandise mid-game as fans no longer feel they could potentially miss a key moment while away from their seat.

In hospitality suites and executive boxes, the approach focused on localised control and premium tailored viewing. Dedicated Sky Q receivers were paired with intuitive control systems, allowing guests or staff to select content independently, whether live sport, replay highlights or alternative channels. This level of control enhances the premium experience expected in these environments while maintaining operational simplicity.

Delivery of the project was carefully phased to align with the football calendar, minimising disruption to fixtures and day-to-day operations, carefully orchestrating installation schedules across all 30 clubs.

Elliot Shepherd, Technical Sales & Projects Coordinator at TVC Technology Solutions, said: “The EFL project was a complex undertaking to create seamless Sky-Q based AV infrastructure across 30 sites, while keeping EFL matches disruption free. The result is a great example of how AV infrastructure is evolving within the sports venue and wider hospitality environment to become an integral part of the revenue driving model. It’s no longer just about having screens in place; it’s about how effectively content can be distributed to support both the fan experience and the commercial objectives of the venue.”

The completed rollout provides EFL clubs with a future-ready AV foundation, capable of adapting to changing broadcast models and evolving fan expectations. With the summer of sport set to drive increased footfall and demand for high-quality viewing experiences, the investment positions venues to make the most of every matchday opportunity.

For the AV trade, the project highlights the growing importance of scalable, networked AV systems within large multi-site environments, and reinforces TVC Technology Solutions’ capability in delivering complex, high-volume integration programmes at a national level.
