Martinhal Sagres Family Beach Resort, the 5* property in the Algarve from Martinhal Family Hotels & Resorts, has announced the launch of its new World Cup Football Academy, running throughout the 2026 FIFA World Cup period from 11th June to 19th July 2026.
Created to celebrate one of the world’s biggest sporting events, the newly-themed football programme will bring an international tournament atmosphere to this award-winning beachside resort, with weekly competitions, themed training sessions and special certificates for young participants.
The Football Academy at Martinhal Sagres Family Beach Resort has long been a favourite activity for active young guests, but for summer 2026, the Academy will take on a World Cup identity. The World Cup Football Academy will have a new theme every week to bring the excitement of the beautiful game to the shores of the Algarve. Weekly challenges such as World Cup Penalties and World Cup Free Kick competitions will take place every Tuesday and Thursday, and there will be mini tournaments within each academy for young footballers to put their skills into practice. At the end of each week, academy participants receive a commemorative certificate to remind them of their Martinhal trip. Of course, the whole family will be also be able to watch screened World Cup games at the resort’s M Bar.

Affordable football fun for the whole family
The year-round Football Academy is available for children aged 4 to 12 years old, with two dedicated age groups launching as part of the World Cup Football Academy:
• World Cup Mini Football Academy – ages 4 to 6 (50-minute sessions)
• World Cup Football Academy – ages 7 to 12 (60-minute sessions)
• World Cup Mini Football Academy – ages 4 to 6 (50-minute sessions)
Led by experienced coaches, sessions are designed to suit varying ages and abilities, helping children improve coordination, confidence and technical football skills while making new friends during their holiday.
Families can choose between:
• Group training sessions - €25 for 50/60 minutes
• Private training sessions - €29 for 30 minutes, for up to three children
Bookings can be arranged during the pre-arrival stage through the Martinhal concierge team. Guests already staying at the resort can also book directly via Front Desk, Gym Reception, Club 98 Reception, or online through MyMartinhal platform.
