13th February 2025, Gloucestershire: Leading Gloucestershire law firm, WSP Solicitors, has announced its new charity partner, Maggie’s, which provides free cancer care services, support, courses and workshops, through their 27 centres nationwide.
Previously, WSP Solicitors raised £7,000 for Young Gloucestershire, an organisation supporting the mental and physical wellbeing of children, young people and their families across the county. Fundraising efforts included, hiking the Welsh Three Peaks in 24 hours, spending a night in Gloucester Prison which is regarded as one of if not the most haunted prisons in the UK, competing in the Gloucester Quays Dragon Boat race, and completing the world’s biggest inflatable 5k obstacle course.
Chosen by the firm’s wider team members, Maggie’s, was nominated due to the innovative cancer care and treatment it offers. The charity, provides outstanding, emotional support and practical advice to anyone with cancer and their family and friends, completely free of charge at their award-winning centres.
With locations across the UK, including College Baths Road in Cheltenham, Maggie’s centres stand out for their unique architecture and design. The charity believes that thoughtful design can positively impact those seeking support, helping them to feel better by improving their environment and enabling the charity to provide the best possible cancer care. Each Maggie’s centre is designed to blend seamlessly into its surroundings - a home from home that’s designed to feel nothing like a hospital.
WSP’s team will be taking part in a series of fundraising initiatives over the next two years, including the Gloucester half marathon and 10k, a charity quiz and a range of internal and external events engaging staff and the local community.
Anna Mason, Centre Fundraising Manager for the Maggie’s centre in Cheltenham said: “Maggie’s is absolutely thrilled to be chosen as WSP’s charity partner. We know that when people are diagnosed with cancer, they need much more than just medical treatment. Which is why we created our centres where we provide workshops, courses, one-to-one and group support to help people to change the way they live with cancer. Our centres provide a warm, welcoming space where people can connect, seek professional guidance, and find comfort during difficult times. This partnership means so much to us, as we rely on the generosity of the community to continue our work. Every pound raised by WSP will help us support even more people affected by cancer. We look forward to working together to make a real difference.”
Silas Miller, Board Director and Head of Marketing and Business Development at WSP Solicitors added: “We are looking forward to working with Maggie’s as our new charity partner. Like many of my colleagues, I have personal experience with cancer and truly appreciate the incredible support that charities like Maggie’s provide. Ensuring they have the resources to continue their vital work is so important, and I have no doubt that this partnership will be both meaningful for our team and beneficial for Maggie's. We look forward to working together to make a real impact."
