Grey is out and brown is in, according to new research from The Baked Tile Company.
The independent tile suppliers have found consumer interest in brown interiors has surged over the last month, with Pinterest searches for the terms ‘brown living room’, ‘light brown aesthetic’ and ‘brown bedroom ideas’ all growing.
Lesley Taylor, Interior Designer and founder of The Baked Tile Company, said: “Right now, we are seeing a move away from the once-dominant grey palette towards richer, warmer hues like terracotta, burgundy, and brown.
“This move not only brings a big change in interior design but also signifies a deeper connection to nature and comfort in our living spaces.
“Brown, terracotta and burgundy exude warmth, earthiness, and a sense of groundedness that grey simply can't match. Terracotta, with its natural clay-like quality, brings a touch of the Mediterranean into our homes. Burgundy is opulent and sophisticated, whilst brown, in its various shades, offers a timeless and versatile option that pairs well with almost any colour.
“Plus, these shades work brilliantly with lots of different interior styles, including Mid-Century Modern, rustic farmhouse and the current Mediterranean Revival.”
The Baked Tile Company has a selection of earthy tiles, which are ideal for those who want to transform the more utilitarian spaces of their homes such as a kitchen or bathroom.
From the subtleness of the Marrakesh Terracotta Brick range – which combines the sleek style of a metro tile with a gentle terracotta hue – to the attention stealing Groovy Jefferson in Amber with its 70’s-inspired pattern, there is a tile for every taste.
Lesley added: “Investing in richly coloured tiles might be daunting but this warming trend looks set to stay for a while. Like grey before it, brown has slowly seeped into our design choices and will play a dominate part for years to come.”
The Baked Tile Company’s range of brown tiles are available now, with prices starting at 71.98 per m2.

ABOUT THE BAKED TILE COMPANY
Based in The Mumbles, Swansea; we started The Baked Tile Co. in 2013, determined to bring new and exciting tiles to the UK market, offer high-end design online and at affordable prices, and to share our passion for tiles with our customers.
Our family’s love of beautiful tiles goes back a lot further than that though! We first started working in the industry in the 1960s, and since then the Taylor family has been helping homeowners across the UK choose the perfect tiles for their design projects. We’ve also been recognised in exciting commercial projects too, supplying tiles to the likes of Heathrow Terminal 4, Harrods Food Hall, BMW UK, Mini UK and Ford Europe, as well as luxury hotel and leisure facilities around the world.
With second-generation tile guru and experienced Interior Designer (and British Institute of Interior Design member) Lesley Taylor now at the helm, our team of interior designers regularly scours Europe for the latest tile innovations and designs. There’s nothing we love more than identifying upcoming tile trends and adding them to the Baked Tiles collections.
