Castle Pushes Its Unique Canvas to Entice UK and International Events Market

The dangers of choosing an unmemorable venue for a wedding, party, or corporate event, are all outlined in a brand-new events booklet from Langley Castle, in Northumberland. Its arrival coincides with a shortlisting for Small Hotel of the Year in the North East Tourism Awards and the arrival of a Culinary Director who can deliver fine-dining quality dishes to any event.

The 4-star (AA Silver) luxury castle hotel has just created the booklet as a new download called the ‘Grand Backdrop Castle Hotel’.  The theme is that of adaptability, showcasing the fact that the 14th century, fortified hotel, complete with impressive seven-feet-thick medieval walls, can become the backdrop for whatever style of occasion any individuals or event organisers wish to stage.

Using the highly photogenic setting as a medieval fairy-tale canvas is one option but, as the award-winning castle explains, it has already been used for a wide variety of other events.  How the castle, its profound Instagram appeal, its manicured wooded and lawned areas, and its charming woodland wedding area are utilised, is simply a matter for the imagination.

Langley Castle has already staged everything from a first-class two-day Indian wedding and atmospheric Viking weddings to Harry Potter-themed affairs and women’s business briefings.  It is regularly used as a base for classic car rallies with car club members making the use of its location on the A686, reached from Penrith via the dramatic Hartside ascent. It is also one of the UK’s premier elopement wedding venues and a hotel that has hosted Dungeons and Dragons events, exclusive-hire family parties, historic re-enactments and meetings of MIT alumni.

Ambience, memorability, photographic impact, prestige and heritage are the five main pillars explained in the new booklet, coupled with the services of a team of remarkably long-serving employees who truly care about Langley Castle and its event organisers and attendees.

The narrative this exceptional and one-off venue can weave makes it stand out from the crowd.  Guests step into the history books the moment they arrive, thanks to the castle’s many authentic medieval features.  A spellbinding ambience also pervades, creating goose bumps for event guests and delivering a fabulous dose of sense of place.

Furthermore, events can now benefit from the genius of new Culinary Director, acclaimed chef and restaurateur, Mark Greenaway.  The Scottish ‘Great British Menu’ and ‘Saturday Kitchen’ guest chef and cookbook author is bringing his extensive experience to the Langley Castle event catering offering, as well as developing exciting menus for diners in the 2AA Rosette Josephine Restaurant.  His creativity with dishes knows no bounds and dramatic food centre-pieces can soon become talking points within a variety of events.

General manager, Mohamed Serag, says, “Langley Castle is a chameleon, becoming a backdrop for whatever event an event planner wishes to stage.  With various function rooms, including our top-of-the-castle captivating Stuart Suite, very special Battlements Chapel, mesmerising Drawing Room, candlelit Josephine Restaurant and contemporary Glass Pavilion, tipi and woodland wedding area, we have many different locations that can be utilised during an event.  This makes it perfect for corporate clients wishing to stage different group activities simultaneously.

“What Langley Castle can deliver to corporate guests is a true wow factor and an instant spark for creativity.  Stepping through the door instantly inspires and impresses.  This is not your average ‘vanilla’ venue but somewhere that can make a mark and live in the memory. We welcome event bookings from worldwide locations and believe that demonstrating that Langley Castle can be a canvas for any type of event, will help increase our global appeal.”
