The summer holidays are around the corner, but family trips during the six-week break are costing more than ever. With summer holiday prices up 11.5% compared to 2024, and fines for taking children out of school for trips at a record high, families looking for affordable summer staycations can escape to Scotland for less thanks to a new July and August package at SCHLOSS Roxburghe.
SCHLOSS Roxburghe, a five-star historic house hotel in the heart of the Scottish Borders, is offering the perfect family escape with 25% off stays of two nights or more throughout July and August 2025.
Just over an hour’s drive from both Edinburgh and Newcastle, SCHLOSS Roxburghe is made for family adventures, with something for every age and interest. Activities include everything from archery to fly fishing, a brand new kids’ club with nature walks and mini yoga, a championship golf course and driving range, spa pampering with a heated outdoor pool, and delicious local food sourced from around the Borders.
This summer, families staying for two nights or more between 1st July and 31st August, either in the main hotel or in the new self-catering cottages, will save 25% on their stay thanks to a new offer from Hyatt, bookable online.
Kio: A new kids’ club launched in Summer 2024 for ages 4-12
SCHLOSS Roxburghe’s new Kio Kids’ Club was opened on the property in summer 2024, and now offers a range of fun activities for ages 4 to 12. Based on the children’s book Kio, Everything in Flow, written exclusively for the hotel by author Sophia Brucklacher, the Kio Kids’ Club teaches children about sustainable practices and environmental awareness, with activities including learning about water cycles and local wildlife.
Kio Kids’ Club is open Wednesday to Sunday (9.30am - 5.00pm), with four pre-bookable activity sessions a day set in three different indoor areas: Green Room for play and creation, Blue Room for relaxation and Pink Room for play and learning.
Activities that the club provides include kids’ yoga, nature walks and scavenger hunts, making bug houses, wildlife spotting, music and dance, and arts and crafts - perfect for engaging young brains over the summer holidays.
Enjoy your own space in 51 new self-catering cottages
Over 2024, SCHLOSS Roxburghe opened 51 one- and two-bed self-catering cottages - ideal for families looking for their own space. These elegantly-appointed cottages feature sleek, modern kitchens, sumptuous furnishings, Molton Brown toiletries and freestanding baths or rainfall showers, with some offering in-built saunas. The proximity of the new cottages to the award-winning golf course (and space for equipment) makes it ideal for golfers, while parents in need of pampering will love being so close to the hotel’s outdoor spa.
Room to roam in the Scottish Borders
With over 300 acres of estate parkland, including private riverbanks and scenic trails, SCHLOSS Roxburghe is a natural playground. Kids can enjoy wide-open spaces and fresh air while parents soak in the tranquility - or join in the fun.
