McCarron Coates Experiencing Mud, Sweat and Tears for Charity

When the going gets tough, the team at specialist fleet insurance brokerage, McCarron Coates, get going, as proven by the entry of 16 members of staff into Tough Mudder Yorkshire 2024.

The McCarron Coates team, which includes director Paul Coates, will be taking on the 15km, 20-obstacle course in support of the Downs Syndrome Association.  This is a charity striving to create the conditions through which those with Downs Syndrome can live full and rewarding lives.

The aim is to raise as much money as possible for this charity, which is close to the heart of both some team members and company associates.

Training is already underway for the event taking place at Broughton Hall, Skipton and all are bonding over mud, sweat and tears, experienced on a fairly regular basis at present.

This is the latest challenge undertaken by the McCarron Coates team as a whole.  Last year, they took on the Three Peaks Challenge, to climb the Pennine peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres), in under 12 hours.  

For that mission, they raised over £2800 for the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF), which helps fund the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit, ensuring it remains a world-class centre of excellence for babies, children and adults living with congenital heart disease.

Paul Coates says, “We feel very privileged to be able to do the jobs we do and have the lifestyle that comes from having both that opportunity and good health.  This inspires us to show gratitude for things we could otherwise take for granted and do all we can to give something back.  Our goal is always to try to assist good causes that can help others in our community who are not as fortunate, be that because of a health issue or other situation.

“It is great to see that we have already generated donations from bus and coach clients, who support us in our missions all the way.  The more we can raise, the more it will spur us all on to complete the course and get the feel-good factor of having done what it is in our power to do, to help others who need extra assistance.”
