October 9 2024, Oxfordshire, UK: Leading customer experience solution specialist, three rocks®, has become a Certified B Corporation, just one year after launching the business and following 12 months of sustainable growth.

There are now more than 2,000 Certified B Corps in the UK, a figure that has doubled in just 18 months, making the UK the fastest growing B Corp community in the world. Certification is awarded by not-for-profit, B Lab UK, to businesses that meet the rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, ranked based on their positive impact on the planet and stakeholders, including employees, communities and customers.

three rocks® began its B Corp journey in Sept 2023. Now, with 40 employees and clients including Pizza Hut, TGI Friday’s and The Big Table Group, the people-first technology company has grown its team by more than 20% and boosted turnover by over 30% in the 12 months since, despite shifts to a new, more sustainable way of operating.

Managing Director of three rocks®, Scott Muncaster, said: “We’ve always strived to put people at the heart of everything we do. Whether that’s our employees, suppliers, customers or their customers, we want to make a positive difference. When we launched three rocks® a year ago, we did so on our values – different, together, better – and believe these capture the essence of what we’re about. Given our desire to want to do business better for the benefit of people, the B Corp movement felt like a natural step to further improve the way we positively contribute to our society and environment.”

He added: “Working within hospitality alongside some of the sector’s leading organisations, we understand that the environment plays a critical role in the continued success and longevity of the industry. This is why, almost as soon as we launched the brand, we began working on becoming a Certified B Corporation, and now our goal is to continue improving to maintain certification when we’re reassessed in 2027.”

Key changes made by the company to achieve certification included updating Articles of Association to formalise the commitment of the Board to add meaningful value beyond profit-making activities, as well as revising and improving business policies and procedures.

Matt Rawlins, CTO at three rocks®, added: “We’re extremely proud of everyone within the business for reaching this milestone so early in the company’s life. Organisations have to score 80 or above based on their impact on the environment, communities and stakeholders, and we achieved 84.1 with our highest scoring areas being customers, workers and governance. We have already seen the benefits of striving to become B Corp Certified by being more mindful and deliberate in our actions around customer stewardship, environmental impact and EDI (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion), to name but a few. However, being a B Corp doesn’t mean we can take our foot off the gas, and we’re committed to continuously improving.”

Chief Data Officer, Andy Kaplan, said: “If you look at our growth within this period, it shows that doing the right things for customers, employees, communities and the environment, can also positively affect the bottom line. We are recognising the commercial benefits of being a Certified B Corporation. The assessment journey has added depth and breadth to many areas in the business, and we know this is just the beginning. We’re excited to experience the further impacts of being a part of the B Corp movement and in turn the effect we have on our people and the planet.”
