Clipper Teas, the organic and Fairtrade tea company owned by Ecotone UK, is launching a new premium tea format for both the foodservice and health food trade.
The brand, well-known for its commitment to natural and ethical tea, has unveiled its new pyramid shaped tea bags with larger-cut ingredients for a more powerful taste experience.
The three-dimensional pyramid shape provides more space for the leaves to move and expand, delivering a stronger flavour, aroma and colour, to produce a fuller, more rounded cup of tea.
Available in a 20-bag pack, the new pyramid range includes seven of Clipper’s top-performing flavours in the out-of-home channel; English Breakfast, Decaf, Earl Grey, Green, Peppermint & Spearmint, Lemon & Ginger, and Rooibos.
Aligned with the Clipper’s organic principles, the tea bags are made from a natural PLA derived from non-GMO sugar cane.
The environmentally-friendly tea bags can therefore be composted and added to food waste. The packaging is also fully recyclable.
Tom Uttley, Head of Impulse & Ireland at Ecotone UK, says:
“We’ve been working towards this innovation for some time, and we’re delighted to bring it to market. We know today’s foodservice operators are looking for premium products that deliver on quality while meeting growing consumer expectations around sustainability. We’ve carefully curated a range that combines exceptional tea with strong sustainability credentials, making it a compelling choice for cafés, restaurants and hotels.
“At the same time, the range enables consumers to recreate café culture and those special tea moments at home through the health food channel. We’re confident it will have strong appeal and are excited to see consumers drinking it in and out of home.”
Clipper, and its parent company Ecotone, has been B Corp certified for over seven years. Clipper’s teas are sourced from organic and Fairtrade tea estates that are deeply committed to producing the best quality tea leaves. The teas are blended and packed at the company’s tea factory in Dorset, which it has called home for over 40 years.
A sustainability pioneer, Clipper is a leading organic tea brand and a founding Fairtrade tea brand – even helping to write the Fairtrade tea standards in 1994. All of Clipper’s tea bags are unbleached, non-GMO and fully biodegradable.

B Corp certified, Clipper is a different kind of tea company and a pioneer in ethical, sustainable tea production since 1984.
Clipper is Fairtrade’s first and longest-standing tea partner and a founding member of the Fairtrade Foundation – even helping to write the original tea standards 30 years ago. In that time, Clipper and its shoppers have generated over £6.8m in Fairtrade Premium to support housing, education and healthcare projects in tea-growing communities.
Part of the Ecotone UK family, Clipper’s tea factory in Beaminster produces over 1 billion tea bags a year, which are sold in over 50 countries worldwide. Committed to organic and ethical sourcing, Clipper only ever uses natural ingredients and processes to make the finest quality hot beverages.
In 2018, Clipper became the first tea company to make all its heat-sealed tea bags unbleached, non-GM and fully-biodegradable. Clipper’s factory uses renewable energy sources and 98% of factory waste is recycled.
