31July 2025: Mer, a leading European electric vehicle (EV) charging company, is heading to the Maybird Shopping Park, Stratford-upon-Avon on 13 August 2025 for its next charger inauguration event.

The Mer team will be there between 10am and 1pm, answering questions from existing EV drivers, and anyone else interested in knowing more about EVs and charging. Visitors to the event will be able ‘spin the wheel’ for the chance to win prizes including free charging, free Mer charge cards (which usually cost £10) and a variety of other prizes.

The event is also an opportunity for people to get help or advice about operating Mer chargers and signing up to the network.

The new chargers at Maybird Shopping Park are part of a growing trend for EV charging within retail parks, as driver demand increases for destinations that offer more than the charging infrastructure alone. With additional new charge points at Maybird, the shopping park is generating an increase in both footfall and dwell time for shops, restaurants and other facilities on the site.

Elizabeth Warren, Director of Public Charging at Mer UK said, “Despite the continuing growth in EV ownership, we know there is a perception that owning and charging an electric vehicle is complex, so we’re happy to have the opportunity to show people that it doesn’t have to be – that it’s easy to leave your car to charge while shopping, dining, or watching a movie.

“We’re looking forward to meeting existing and new EV drivers at Maybird Shopping Centre in August. There’s no need to register, just turn up.”

The Maybird Shopping Park is home to retailers including Argos, Asda, Boots, and TKMaxx, alongside cafes, food outlets, and fitness facilities. Drivers can charge at one of Mer’s ultra-rapid charge points while they enjoy the wide range of outlets on offer. Find out more about Mer EV charging at Maybird Shoppping Centre.
