THE ULTIMATE MALLORCA ROAD TRIP:

DISCOVER ALL THAT THE ISLAND HAS TO OFFER WITH ‘IT MALLORCA’ HOTELS

  • Travellers can experience all that Mallorca has to offer with It Mallorca thanks to its six boutique hotels that are scattered across the island in Palma, Pollensa, and Valldemossa
  • From country to coastal; strike the perfect balance of city and nature

Travellers looking to embrace the nostalgic road trip, which new research reveals as the defining travel trend of 2025, can take a journey across the largest Balearic island to discover the six It Mallorca boutique hotels. With lush greenery blanketing the countryside, from olive groves to wildflowers, and crystal-clear waters fringing the coastline, the island’s sun-drenched shores are perfect for a summer road trip. Here’s how to do it with It Mallorca:

WHY IS MALLORCA AN IDEAL ROAD TRIP DESTINATION?

The island is small enough to navigate with ease, yet it offers an incredible range of landscapes—from dramatic mountain ranges and winding coastal roads to golden beaches and rolling countryside. Along the way, travellers can immerse themselves in the island’s rich culture and history, with charming towns like Deià, Valldemossa, and Sóller offering authentic local experiences, artisanal shops, and traditional cuisine. With so much to see, Mallorca invites slow travel—the kind of journey made for the open road.

WHERE TO STAY?

First stop: Palma

Dotted across the Mediterranean gem, the It Mallorca properties are six beautifully restored historic buildings that preserve their roots with a contemporary twist. Four of the hotels are located in the capital so take your pick! Can CeraCan AlomarCalatrava and Sant Jaume all place travellers in the heart of the city.

  • The first hotel to open in the portfolio was  Can Cera, set in a 17th-century palace that exudes luxury townhouse elegance with antique furnishings, stone arches, and a speak-easy style courtyard, where guests can enjoy locally produced eats and expertly-crafted cocktails.
  • Sant Jaume in Palma’s old town provides a peaceful family-friendly retreat (it’s the only It Mallorca hotel which isn’t adults only) with its jasmine-scented rooftop terrace, plunge pool, and views over the old town. The Suite Sant Jaume is perfect for families with a spacious design and 30sqm private terrace with outdoor lounge furniture, a jacuzzi, and terracotta rooftop views. Once the kids are put to sleep, the terrace is the perfect place for adults to unwind.
  • Can Alomar has an unbeatable location, tucked away at the crossroads of Palma's chicest street - Paseo del Borne. The hotel has a rooftop with 360° views, a plunge pool and a popular Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant known as De Tokio a Lima.

Second stop: Pollensa

Following a busy few days in the capital, head north to Can Auli in the heart of Pollensa: a tranquil adults-only hideaway for some R&R. Housed in a 17th-century mansion, five-star Can Auli is located at the foot of Sierra de Tramuntana – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – making Can Auli the perfect road trip stop for hiking and cycling enthusiasts.

For those with a sense of adventure, Can Auli serves as an ideal base for exploring the beauty of the mountains as the hotel, like its recently-opened sister hotel, Hotel Valldemossa, has a partnership with local hiking guide, Martin Bestard, who offers guided hiking experiences through the mountains. As a local, Martin has access to private trails and properties whose owners he is friends with, meaning a guided hike with Martin opens up exclusive paths less trodden. Can Auli also has its own bike garage– a real USP. It’s a state-of-the-art cycling centre with bicycle racks, tyre pumps, a repair workshop, a shower specifically for bikes, and maps with personalised routes from the hotel’s doorstep. Both Can Auli and Hotel Valldemossa have a partnership with local company, Cycling Friendly, who can arrange bike rental, guided tours, transfers, coaching, and biomechanics.

Can Auli features 21 inviting and cosy rooms spread across three floors, a serene walled garden with a pool and the El Comado gastro-bar, which offers a relaxed, cosy space with an open kitchen concept.

Two nights in Pollensa is plenty, but if you’re spending your days cycling in the mountains perhaps you’ll want to linger a little bit longer.

£££: Room-only rates at Can Auli start from £188. High-res images for Can Auli available to download HERE

Third and final stop: Valldemossa (newly opened in February 2024)

Finish your journey by embracing the slow life at the idyllic Hotel Valldemossa in the UNESCO-listed Sierra de Tramuntana. Designed to create a sanctuary of tranquility, Hotel Valldemossa has just 12 suites, each featuring private verandas opening onto the hillside views where guests can roll out their yoga mat beneath the shade of an olive tree, finding calm with the distant sound of church bells.

To further the feeling of ultimate relaxation, guests can head to The Sanctuary to embrace a holistic approach to health and wellbeing with Amor Garzon, a healer who fuses Chinese medicine with contemporary detoxifying treatments. Following its move from the capital, the hotel’s in-house restaurant, De Tokio a Lima, offers seasonal cuisine that blends Japanese and Peruvian influences. Toast to a fantastic road trip in this special spot in the Mallorcan mountains and reminisce on your memories with It Mallorca where each hotel has its own distinct character, complemented by its surroundings.

You won’t want to leave Hotel Valldemossa. This suggested road trip really does save the best until last, so we recommend spending three nights here to round this Mallorca itinerary up to seven nights. Two nights in Palma, two nights in Pollensa, and three in Valldemossa. Voila! The ultimate Mallorcan road trip itinerary, all with It Mallorca hotels.

Editors notes

It Mallorca Unique Spaces is a brand of hotels, restaurants and luxury concierge that offer exceptional experiences. All buildings that house the hotels have had prior lives and the idea of adding new bricks to Mallorca seems totally absurd to Miguel Conde, owner of IT Mallorca. Calatrava, Sant Jaume and adults only escapes Can Cera and Can Alomar are nestled in Palma’s historical city centre and surrounded by Renaissance-era palaces and plazas. Adults-only retreat Can Aulí is location in Pollença’s photogenic Old Town and at the foot of the UNESCO listed Tramuntana mountain range. A passion for art and design is reflected in all properties. Many of the masterpieces that adorn the communal spaces and bedrooms are done by local artists specifically created to collaborate with the hotel and its surrounding. Each hotel has a space for relaxing and balancing body and mind offering a variety of treatments and rituals.
