Independent gardening retailer joins Honest Communications as the agency continues to expand its home and garden client portfolio.

Honest Communications, the specialist PR agency behind some of the UK’s best-known gardening and horticulture brands, has strengthened its portfolio with the appointment of independent Edinburgh-based retailer grow urban.

Founded in Edinburgh in 2019, grow urban is an independent plant and lifestyle retailer with a shop in the city’s New Town, alongside an online store delivering across the UK. Its range includes houseplants and outdoor plants, pots, gardening tools and botanical gifts, with the team taking a considered, curated approach to the products and plants they stock.

The business was founded with a focus on bringing a fresh, contemporary approach to plant retail, with its knowledgeable team of Plant Gurus helping customers find plants and products suited to their homes, gardens and lifestyles.

Honest Communications will lead PR and media relations for grow urban, with activity focused on raising the retailer’s profile across consumer, lifestyle, interiors and gardening media. The agency will showcase grow urban’s expertise across areas including urban and container gardening, small-space planting, seasonal interest and emerging plant and gifting trends.

Led by Account Director Fay Clarkson, Honest will also work closely with grow urban founder Graham Savage to develop his profile as a knowledgeable voice on modern plant retail, offering a perspective rooted in the realities of how people are shopping, planting and enjoying their spaces today.

Holly Daulby, Managing Director of Honest Communications, said: “grow urban is a brilliant addition to our portfolio. Graham and the team have created a really distinctive retail business, with a strong understanding of what modern gardeners and plant lovers are looking for. Their approach feels fresh and accessible, and there are so many opportunities to bring their expertise and perspective to the media. We’re really looking forward to working with them and helping to build grow urban’s profile even further.”

Graham Savage, founder of grow urban, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with Honest. They understand the horticultural industry but also know how to find the stories that will resonate beyond the gardening press. We’re looking forward to sharing more of what we’re seeing in the world of plants, from changing customer habits and small-space gardening to the products and trends we think people will love.”

grow urban joins Honest Communications’ growing portfolio of horticulture, gardening and lifestyle brands, which includes Charles Bentley, elho, Hillier Garden Centres, Wilkinson Sword Garden Tools, Town & Country, WOLF-Garten, Seedball, Cobra and Ladybird Plantcare.
