AW Hainsworth, a 241-year-old textile manufacturer and woollen mill based in West Yorkshire, has been granted a Royal Warrant of Appointment to HM The King for the supply of its interior fabrics to the palaces.
The first wave of Royal Warrant decisions were revealed in May, and AW Hainsworth’s application decision formed part of the second cohort of reviews.
The family-run mill has held a Royal Warrant for two decades after it was initially granted in 2004 and has been renewed since. The latest announcement secures AW Hainsworth’s position as a Royal Warrant Holder. His Majesty King Charles III is a long-term advocate for wool and has been a patron of the Campaign for Wool since its inception in 2010.
The maker of iconic British woollen cloth was pleased to welcome HRH The Princess of Wales for a tour last year, who visited to learn more about how AW Hainsworth processes a product from raw fibre to finished cloth at its mill.
Amanda McLaren, Managing Director of AW Hainsworth and Hainsworth Signature Fabrics, comments, “It is an exceptional honour to be granted a Royal Warrant for supplying furnishing fabrics directly to the Royal Household. We have had the pleasure of being a Royal supplier for two decades, which forms an important part of our history. We are continuously investing in our people, product manufacturing capabilities, and sustainability to help secure the future of UK textiles, and this Royal Warrant renewal helps to confirm that our business strategy is on the right track.
“In addition to supplying our interior furnishing fabrics to the Royal Family, Hainsworth Signature Fabrics were used to create the Anointing Screen for His Majesty King Charles III’s Coronation and the iconic scarlet cloth for the Royal Guard’s military uniforms.
“Our fabrics have also featured in costumes for hundreds of West End theatre productions, TV series and films, and by fashion designers and brands in the UK and globally.”
