In support of breast cancer charity Brighter Futures, influential women in tech join forces with Core to Cloud to inspire the next generation of women into IT

Gloucestershire, 12th October 2022: On the 10th of November, in support of Brighter Futures, a Swindon based cancer charity, senior female tech and business leaders will be coming together at Core to Cloud headquarters in Cirencester to help and inspire the next generation of women into IT.
Of the nearly three million people currently working in the UK IT sector, it has been reported that only 26% of positions are held by women. The event, which is free for anyone to register to attend , hosted by the award-winning cybersecurity specialists, will include talks from influential tech and senior leaders, including Abidda Abbas, Chief Clinical information officer at Southwest Yorkshire NHS Trust, Jacki Allen-Free, EPR Program Manager at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Tania Palmariellodiviney, Director at Data Privacy Ltd, and Business and Life Coach, Kiki Kirby.
Guests will also hear from inspirational speaker and breast cancer survivor, Louise McMilan, who will share her experience of mental health and breast cancer. “I’ve suffered from limiting self-belief and lack of self-confidence for most of my life,” said Louise, when explaining what her frank and honest account will be at the forthcoming Core to Cloud event. “I really understand the anxieties that arise and stop you from doing what you really want whether this is in your professional or personal life, and will be sharing how to overcome these challenges through my own life experiences.
“In 2017 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, however, I’ve come out the other side and it’s resolved my desire to help people. It also taught me the most valuable lesson of all – I must start living the life I want now and that means being true to me and doing what makes me happy – helping others to happiness and ultimately enabling them to ‘live life more fully’.”
The event will also be fundraising for Swindon based charity Brighter Futures, dedicated to supporting people with cancer, while raising awareness of the 5000 women who are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK. Brighter Futures is the registered charity of Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and supports services at Great Western Hospital in Swindon and in community health sites across the local area.
Kelly Allen, CMO of Core to Cloud and host of the event, added: “As a woman working in tech, I was keen to shine a light on all the great females working in the sector, while also educating each other on breast cancer in support of an amazing local charity, Brighter Futures.
“If we can support the thousands of UK women who are diagnosed with breast cancer every year then we’re not only helping in the fight against cancer but ensuring there is a brighter future for the tech industry too.”
In support of Brighter Futures, Core to Cloud is carrying out fundraising throughout the rest of the year. Activities include a Great British Bake-Off style competition, where members of the team will be showcasing their baking talents, themed pink days and on the 11th of November 9 members of the team will be heading to GoSkyDive, Salisbury, to test their nerve as they jump, in tandem, from 10,000ft.
