Restore Information Management has reduced mileage and CO2 emissions by 25% at four of its sites after introducing AI-powered route optimisation technology to improve the efficiency of its national fleet.
The UK's largest independent provider of information management services has partnered with fleet optimisation specialist Optimize to improve route planning and make better use of its vehicles across the UK.
Using data and AI to analyse customer locations, vehicle capacity and traffic conditions, the platform helps Restore Information Managements teams plan more efficient delivery and collection routes, reducing time spent on the road while maintaining high levels of customer service.
Across the four sites where the technology has been implemented - Birmingham, Rainham, Southampton and Monkton Farleigh - Restore Information Management has already a 25% reduction in mileage and CO2 emissions, and a 39% increase in deliveries per route.
Operating a nationwide logistics network supporting secure document storage, records management and scanning services. Restore Information Management is using the platform to drive greater operational efficiency while reducing the environmental impact of its transport operations.
Jez Tibbetts, Service Delivery Director at Restore Information Management, said: "Reducing emissions across our fleet is a key part of our sustainability strategy, but it has to be achieved in a way that supports operational performance and customer service.
"The insights we are gaining through Optimize are helping us plan more efficient routes, make better use of our vehicles and reduce unnecessary mileage. We are already seeing a significant impact across our sites where the platform has been introduced, and it is giving us a stronger foundation for future decisions around electric vehicles and alternative fuels."
By removing unnecessary journeys and improving fleet efficiency, the platform is also helping Restore Information Management take a more data-led approach to where electric vehicles can be deployed most effectively and where alternative fuels, such as Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), can be incorporated into routes.
Restore is now implementing the Optimize platform at its Manchester and Shoeburyness sites, with Leeds, Goole and Durham planned next before the rollout extends into Scotland.
