Highland Fling opens new Adventure Hub as £250,000 expansion plans continue

Killiecrankie adventure business generates an estimated £7 million a year for the Highland Perthshire economy as new night zips and a high ropes park are announced.

A new Adventure Hub at Highland Fling in Killiecrankie, Perthshire, has opened with the First Minister of Scotland describing the business a "huge success" 15 years after he helped secure the grant funding that got it off the ground. 

Highland Fling operates the UK's only permanent 132ft bungee jump, alongside a bridge swing - both on the Garry Bridge - and a woodland zip line park.

The new Adventure Hub replaces temporary accommodation with a permanent home for the business. The airy, larch-clad building gives adventure-seekers a proper space to register before their experience, with large screens showing exactly what each activity involves, a viewing area where customers can watch their adventure videos back afterwards, and a new retail and merchandise area. 

Highland Fling is investing £250,000 at Killiecrankie, covering the new Adventure Hub and a programme of new activities, funded entirely from company profits reinvested by the board. A new night-time zipline will join the company's existing ‘Blackout’ experiences including the popular night bungee and night bridge swing, extending the experience into the darker months. A high ropes park is also planned for the site in 2027.

Highland Fling welcomes 25,000 paying customers a year to Killiecrankie, generating an estimated £7 million annually in visitor spending across the Highland Perthshire economy, based on VisitScotland's published tourism figures for the region. Visitor numbers grew 46% in 2024 and 52% in 2025, the company's strongest year to date, and are on track to match that performance in 2026.

The First Minister, who has represented the Perthshire North constituency since 1999, backed the original project before a single jump had been made, and opened the attraction himself in 2011.

First Minister John Swinney said:

"What has been built here adds to the quality of the tourism offering in Highland Perthshire and to Scotland's reputation internationally as a world class destination for visitors. Adventure tourism draws people from across the world into rural Scotland and sustains jobs in the communities that need them most. Supporting businesses like this one to grow, and strengthening Scotland's tourism offer in every part of the country, is a priority for my government."

Highland Fling has also recently invested in a new fleet of electric vehicles used to transport customers from the Adventure Hub to the activity locations on the banks of the River Garry.

Highland Fling employs 47 people at the height of the season, the majority of them under 25, a number having grown up in the business, starting as teenagers and staying on.

Trail said the customer had changed as much as the business: "We used to be a summer, spur-of-the-moment thing. Now a serious number of our activities start life as a gift voucher. Pre-Christmas has become one of our biggest trading periods of the year, with a 60% increase in gift voucher sales last year."

Highland Fling is home to the first and only black-out bridge bungee in Europe, and holds the Guinness World Record for the most outdoor bungee jumps in 24 hours - 765, set in June 2022, beating a previous record of 430 set in New Zealand. Bungee jumpers and bridge swingers have ranged from teenagers to a 90-year-old who took the swing last month and went viral on social media racking up over 5 million views in 48 hours.

The Adventure Hub is one of several ventures entrepreneur Murray Trail is developing in Perthshire. The company has also purchased a 96-acre farm at Ballyoukan, where it intends to plant Highland Perthshire's first vineyard in 2027.
