Late summer lawncare: Your guide to a greener autumn with Cobra and EGO

After a mixed summer of heat waves interspersed with drizzle and light rain, many lawns are still showing signs of stress, with yellow patches and uneven growth common across the UK. But that’s no reason to down tools. In fact, late summer is one of the smartest times to invest in your lawn’s recovery and prepare for the growing season ahead.

“As we head into autumn, grass typically makes a strong comeback – especially after a dry spell,” says Peter Chaloner, Managing Director of garden machinery distributor Henton & Chattell. “So, while mowing may feel like a low priority, it’s actually the ideal moment to upgrade your equipment and get your lawn in peak condition before winter.”

And with exclusive late-summer promotions from leading garden machinery brands Cobra and EGO Power+, gardeners can take advantage of major savings across a range of mowers, lawn tractors, zero-turn tractors and garden tools – perfect for both domestic gardens and larger plots.

Step 1: Get your lawn back in shape

After weeks of variable weather, lawns can be left patchy and stressed. The right mower makes a big difference to recovery.

Cobra MX3440V Cordless Mower – Lightweight at just 12kg, with a 40V battery for up to 45 minutes runtime. Quiet, zero emissions, and ideal for small to medium lawns. Adjustable cutting heights help match mowing to growth conditions.

Cobra RM46SPCE Petrol Rear Roller Mower – Delivers a professional striped finish with a 46cm cutting width and reliable 139cc engine. Durable for larger gardens and easy to manoeuvre.

Cobra LT86HRL Lawn Tractor – A dependable all-rounder with hydrostatic drive and collection system. Perfect for bigger lawns, now with cashback offers of up to £250.

EGO Z6 Zero Turn Ride-On – Cordless, ultra-quiet and powerful, cutting large areas fast with intuitive controls. Available with optional battery bundles worth up to £1,876.

Tip: In hot spells, leave clippings on the lawn to help retain moisture.

Step 2: Boost lawn health for autumn

Late summer is ideal for scarifying, aerating and reseeding – all of which encourage stronger root systems. Many ride-ons and zero-turn tractors from Cobra and EGO can be fitted with attachments for leaf collection, spreading fertiliser and light towing, making them useful year-round.

Step 3: Keep edges, borders and hedges in check

Tidy borders, neat edges and trimmed hedges instantly lift the look of your garden.

Cobra GT3024V Cordless Grass Trimmer – Lightweight, ergonomic, and adjustable for perfect edging along beds and paths.

Cobra MT250C 4-in-1 Multi-tool – Petrol-powered versatility for trimming, brushcutting, hedgecutting and pruning hard-to-reach areas.

Cobra HT550E Electric Hedge Trimmer – Powerful 500W motor, rotating handle for precision, and double-sided blade for faster results.

Step 4: Clear debris for a tidy finish

End-of-season debris, leaves and clippings can smother recovering grass, so keep on top of garden waste.

Cobra BV26C Petrol Blower Vac – Vacuum and mulch leaves with a 10:1 mulching ratio for easier disposal or composting.

Cobra BP43C Backpack Blower – High-powered performance for large areas, with a comfortable harness and variable speed control.

The smart time to upgrade

From compact cordless mowers to high-performance ride-ons, Cobra and EGO’s ranges of petrol, electric and cordless machinery are built to make late summer and autumn lawncare easier, faster and more effective. With limited-time cashback offers and bundle deals available via specialist dealers, now’s the perfect moment to invest in your lawn.
