Masseria Fontanelle, a 4* boutique retreat on the Puglian coast, is set to reopen its doors for the season this May. Situated on a stretch of shoreline known as the ‘Maldives of Salento’ (yes, the water in this part of Italy really is as blue as the images above!) within the protected pine forests of the Litorale di Ugento Natural Park, Masseria Fontanelle is an idyllic sanctuary designed for relaxation, romance, and rejuvenation.
To celebrate the reopening, the hotel is offering a brand new Romantic Spa Break for 2 package valid for stays from 13th May to 31st May and costing just €90 per person per day on a bed-and-breakfast basis.
The package includes*:

SANCTUARIUM SPA: A CANDLELIT CAVERN
A highlight of the Masseria Fontanelle experience is its renowned wellness offering. The hotel’s Sanctuarium Spa is built into the large natural cave that once served as a cistern to the convent, and couples are able to use it freely during their stay - or even book it by the hour on an exclusive-use basis.
Guests can unwind in the heated pool with hydro-massage jets, in the Turkish bath and sauna, reactivate their senses with the Kneipp path (a hydrotherapy treatment involving walking in alternating hot and cold water, typically in pools filled with river stones) or make the most of the Puglian sun in the outdoor pools.
Those who want extra pampering can choose from a wide range of massages and treatments, all of which use organic products with ingredients inspired by the Puglian countryside such as extra virgin olive oil, prickly pear, Salento mint and bitter orange.
SPA, SUNSETS, & SLOW LIVING
Masseria Fontanelle is the perfect setting for couples seeking to reconnect. Exclusively for guests aged 12 upwards, Masseria Fontanelle is a 36-room hotel that was once a 16th century monastery. It focuses on slow living, wellness, and all things local - especially the food and wine.
When not walking along the white sands of the Marina di Torre San Giovanni, or relaxing in their elegantly appointed rooms, couples can enjoy two outdoor sea-view pools, seasonal yoga, pilates, meditation sessions, and workouts in the outdoor gym which is located in the calming forest setting of the Litorale di Ugento Natural Park. Guests can even settle down under the stars for a movie night, thanks to the outdoor cinema.
EAT (AND DRINK!) LIKE A LOCAL
Dining at Masseria Fontanelle is a celebration of Puglia’s rich culinary heritage. Whether dining on a bed and breakfast or half-board basis, couples can tuck into the hotel’s zero kilometre menu which comprises organic ingredients sourced from local farms and the estate’s own gardens, which grow vegetables such as peppers, courgettes, fennel, peas and the chicory to go with the homemade orecchiette.
Of course, delicious food is nothing without drinks to pair it with. La Serre Restaurant offers an expansive wine menu focusing on local Puglian producers, while the pool bar is the perfect spot for Italian aperitifs, cocktails or Puglian gin.
Whether celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, or simply romance, Masseria Fontanelle is the perfect relaxing retreat for couples in 2025.
