Those additional surface details give the timber a more handcrafted appearance and demonstrate how texture can become a decorative feature in its own right.

“Distressed and brushed finishes are particularly effective because they celebrate rather than disguise the natural variation in wood. Equally, details such as herringbone patterns or saw marks give the eye something more to explore.”
