This year, wave goodbye to traditional, boring grass, and say hello to a vibrant, colour-rich flower-filled lawn. Expert wildflower brand, Seedball, has launched a new lawn-compatible seed ball grab bag, Lawn Flowers, which has been made in collaboration with The Wildlife Trusts.
Lawn Flowers has been designed to make Britain’s lawns bloom with wonderful, low-lying wildflowers which will not only look spectacular, but also offer vital food for bees, butterflies, bugs and birds!
Whether you're a seasoned green thumb or a newbie gardener, these clever little seed balls have been created to make gardening a breeze for all. Each grab bag of Lawn Flowers contains 100 seed balls that can be scattered onto bare soil, or mixed with grass seed, and can even be sprinkled into freshly cut lawn after a good rake to break up the sward.
Each bag of Lawn Flowers contains enough to cover five square metres of ground, or plenty to easily brighten up 15-25 medium sized pots, planters or hanging baskets. A Lawn Flower seed ball is packed with approximately 30 seeds from a delightful mix of low-growing wildflowers, including Buttercup, Dandelion, White clover, Birdsfoot trefoil, Red clover, Cowslip, Self heal and Yellow rattle, a mix that offers pollinators a rich and consistent source of nectar throughout the year – as well as bring lovely colour to your patch.
What’s more, for every bag of Lawn Flowers sold, Seedball will donate £1 to the Wildlife Trusts, helping to support its conservation efforts across the UK and beyond.
Dr Ana Attlee, one of the founders of Seedball, said: “Our mission is to encourage as many people as possible to do more for wildlife, and Lawn Flowers is another step towards this. The state of Nature Report (2019) revealed that of the 8,431 species assessed, one in seven were at risk of extinction. UK gardens cover an area larger than all of our nature reserves combined, so together we can make a huge difference for wildlife. Small actions like scattering seed balls can make a huge difference to local pollinators that depend on them and in turn the birds and mammals that feed on them. We are also so excited to be launching Lawn Flowers in collaboration with the Wildlife Trusts. We have been working with the Wildlife Trust for many years now, and we’re so thrilled to be able to continue this relationship and help further support its conservation efforts.”
