There’s a lot to be said for eloping. There’s the fairy-tale romance. Reduced fuss and bother. Far less cost. More intimacy, meaning and mindfulness … and it’s more sustainable than having friends and family travel from afar. Just circulate the video to them afterwards.
Bearing all of these factors in mind, Langley Castle Hotel in Northumberland has cemented its position as England’s number one venue for weddings for two, by creating its own ‘How to Enjoy the Perfect UK Elopement’ guide.
The guide offers impartial practical advice and lists what you need to consider before making it all about the two of you. It also highlights a myriad of little touches it itself can offer, to make your elopement wedding perfect, including providing witnesses, and even suggests the romantic places in Northumberland to which you can venture, once you’ve tied the knot.
Langley Castle has also augmented its Wedding for Two experience by creating a new choice of setting for it. To satisfy ‘green’ motivations, Langley Castle spent lockdown creating a sustainable, new Woodland Weddings area. With seating from fallen estate trees and woodchip paths also made from this sustainable source, this area is as perfect for weddings for two as it is for larger weddings. It’s also a superb location for photography.
Langley has worked with amazing local suppliers, such as the Great British Bash, to perfect ambience-bestowing floral decorations, so all you need do is flick a switch and say ‘I do’ and have the peace of mind of knowing all will be perfect.
Langley Castle is the truly authentic fairy-tale castle for any size wedding and, should you completely change your mind about making it just about you and your other half, you can opt for whole castle private hire, a marquee wedding in the grounds, or a tipis and alpacas theme.
There’s simply nowhere more special nor serene and no more incredible backdrop.
Simply pick up the phone and speak to Katie, on 01434 688888 or email weddings@langleycastle.com for more information.
If you can, head to the castle’s special Wedding Showcase Weekend on January 29 and 30 (12 noon to 3pm), to see all of the options yourself.

Langley Castle, built in 1350, is located in Langley-on-Tyne, Northumberland and is one of the few authentic, fortified medieval castles in England. It has a rich history, with strong links to Jacobite rebellions, is located just a stone's throw from the World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall and boasts features including battlements, seven-feet-thick walls, window seats set into the walls and the best example of medieval garderobes in Europe. It is one of the most exquisite wedding venues in the north and also offers a wide range of options when it comes to exclusive use, with the castle being available for weddings, family celebrations, Bar Mitzvahs and Bat Mitzvahs, D&D-style events and a wide variety of corporate functions.
