KTM Design, one of the leading interior architecture and design companies in Dorset, brings together globally recognised figures, TV personalities, and Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) alumni at its special design industry event – Texture Talks.
The event, that takes place at Pavilion Dance South West on Tuesday 30th September, will explore key trends in modern design. Highlight speakers include John Cooper, this year’s winner of BBC’s Interior Design Masters and AUB alumnus; Max McMurdo, known for his work on Channel 4’s George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces and Bournemouth University alumnus; and Vanessa Brady OBE, President of the Society of British & International Interior Design (SBID).
The event is hosted and powered by Design and Build UK, co-founded by AUB alumnus and lecturer, Katie Thomas and business partner, Nathan Neal. Katie also owns and runs Dorset-based KTM Design and is the South West Regional Director of the SBID.
Katie said: “With an incredible line up of experts offering exclusive insights on the materials, methods, and mindsets shaping our industry, this event is a must-attend for interior design and architecture students, professionals, and enthusiasts.
“Discussions will revolve around the depth and layered decisions behind exceptional design. Our industry has had to significantly adapt in line with many challenges including rising costs, disrupted supply chains, stricter sustainability targets, and a demand for healthier, longer-lasting spaces.
“Through Texture Talks, we’ll look at ways in which the design and architecture sectors can combat these challenges head on and ensure spaces are fit for the future, delivering excellence and longevity in design.”
The programme for Texture Talks includes various panel discussions, thought leadership, and networking opportunities. Topics include the rise of eco-friendly materials and methods, balancing rising costs and value engineering with design quality, and the growing role of wellbeing and mental health in the built environment.
Tickets cost £38 per person with lunch included. Concessions are available for students and groups of three.
