SafeSite Facilities wins airside delivery approval across major UK airports

Specialist supplier SafeSite Facilities has secured approval to deliver products airside across all major UK airports, marking a significant expansion of its logistics capabilities.
The firm, which supplies construction, event site safety and security products nationwide, can now provide safety, water-filled and pedestrian barriers after it gained airside access at Heathrow, London Gatwick and London Stansted airports, as well as Manchester, Newcastle International and Birmingham.
Airside deliveries involve working in highly regulated and security-sensitive environments where access is strictly controlled.
Vehicles and personnel may be subject to security checks, escort requirements, specific routing and operational restrictions to ensure the safety of aircraft, passengers and airport operations.
Paul Goossens, operations director at SafeSite Facilities, said: "This is a major milestone for the business and strengthens our nationwide logistics offering.
“We’ll be working in an environment that requires complete coordination and compliance with the airports, where safety and security are of utmost importance.
“Our teams already operate in several restricted and high-security areas, so delivering airside was a natural progression. They undergo site-specific security protocol training and vetting to ensure we provide services safely, securely and in line with operational requirements.”
SafeSite Facilities will use its own in-house fleet and logistics team to transport products airside without needing to rely on third-party hauliers, helping to reduce unnecessary vehicle movements and associated carbon emissions while providing greater control over delivery schedules.
Demand for airside and high-security deliveries has increased in recent years as airports invest in infrastructure projects and security requirements become increasingly stringent.
Goossens added: “Securing approval across all major UK airports reflects our proven track record of operating safely and compliantly in restricted environments.
“With relatively few providers able to operate in these specialist environments, this demonstrates our specialist expertise and gives customers confidence that we can operate where security requirements are at their highest.”
Approval required SafeSite Facilities to demonstrate that it had the operational procedures, insurance cover and risk management processes needed to work safely within highly regulated airport environments. It is now able to deliver to all major UK airports.
