Employees from Camberley-based Ecotone UK, the company behind purpose-driven food brands Clipper Teas, Kallø, and Mrs Crimble’s, have been getting hands-on in their local community—donating both time and surplus food to support FareShare’s new warehouse in Guildford.

As part of B Corp Month in March, Ecotone UK volunteers dedicated a combined 52 hours of work time to help FareShare Surrey and Sussex distribute food to charities across the region.

Teams spent Tuesdays throughout the month at the newly opened Guildford site, picking and packing food parcels for families and individuals in the local community.

A long-time advocate for food redistribution, Ecotone UK has partnered with FareShare for eight years, supplying products from its brands every two months.

From July to September 2024 alone, the partnership helped support over 400 local charities while preventing 10.4 tonnes of CO2 emissions by diverting food from waste.

A Community Effort with a Big Impact

Reflecting on his volunteer experience, Bryan Martins, CEO at Ecotone UK, shared: “FareShare’s work extends far beyond tackling hunger. By providing nutritious food, they strengthen communities, reduce social isolation, and even create job opportunities. Witnessing their impact firsthand in Guildford was a humbling experience. The warehouse alone supports 165 local charities, and the dedication of the volunteers is truly inspiring. At Ecotone, we’re proud to stand alongside partners like FareShare to support communities and strive for a more fair, sustainable food system.”
Ann Chambers, HR Director at Ecotone UK, adds: “It was fantastic to see our teams getting stuck in with volunteering this month – it’s something we have always encouraged and facilitated at Ecotone. Working with food redistribution charities, like FareShare, is just one of the many ways we can be a force for good in the food industry.”

Ecotone UK, which employs over 200 people across its Camberley headquarters and Clipper Teas factory in Dorset, has been widely recognised for its leadership in biodiversity-focused food production.

Earlier this month, the company was named ‘Sustainable Business of the Year’ at the prestigious edie Awards, praised for its leadership across environmental and social initiatives.

With Ecotone’s support, FareShare Surrey and Sussex continues to expand its reach—ensuring that surplus food benefits those who need it most across Guildford, Camberley, and beyond.
