Jungheinrich will provide a complete range of automated equipment for Sartorius Stedim Biotech, a leading partner to the biopharmaceutical industry. With the acquisition of arculus (in 2021), the Storage Solution Group (in early 2023) and the complete acquisition of Magazino (in August 2023), the intralogistics expert from Germany Jungheinrich has placed automation at the heart of its growth strategy, and continues to roll out its automated solutions through this new contract.
Within this collaboration, Jungheinrich will be installing a state-of-the-art automation system in the future logistics facility at Sartorius Stedim Biotech's headquarters in Aubagne, France. Construction is due to start this year. Through this partnership, Jungheinrich is helping Sartorius' logistics to evolve significantly, increasing efficiency, flexibility and productivity.
Scheduled to open in early 2025, the new logistics facility will include a range of Jungheinrich equipment, such as a high bay racking warehouse served by three automated very narrow aisle trucks of the type EKX 516ka, an automated miniload warehouse and a network of pallet/bin conveyors. Also, a buffer storage in which working stations are supplied according to the goods-to-person principle will be built. The connection to the production area is also automated via mobile robots of the type EKS 215a. In addition, the entire facility will be controlled by Jungheinrich's Warehouse Control System.
“We are proud to offer Sartorius Stedim Biotech a complete logistics solution to match its ambitions. Supplying a production line, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry, is a major challenge to ensure quality, hence the importance of having a reliable, scalable and flexible automated installation", states Sylvia Monteagudo, Sales and Business Development Manager, Automated Systems, at Jungheinrich France.
“This new facility will enable us to streamline our logistics processes, reduce order processing times and increase our storage capacity. Thanks to the automation of our site, we will be able to accelerate our response to growing market demands, increase our competitiveness and offer an even more reliable service to our customers”, explains Valentin Curmi, Head of Logistics Projects, at Sartorius Stedim Biotech France.
