London, February 13, 2024 – The London Card Show took the city by storm this past weekend, February 10-11, as over 4,000 collectors and enthusiasts gathered for a two-day extravaganza of trading cards, collectibles, and engaging activities. The event, held at Sandown Park Racecourse, brought together a diverse community of card lovers, with people travelling from as far as Italy, Greece, and even the US!
The show also had the biggest range and number of trading cards under one roof, with cards ranging from £1 to the most expensive card worth over £100,000!
The show also had some incredible pack breaks with one attendee pulling an extremely rare Blastoise from an original 1999 base set pack which, if graded a PSA 10, could be worth between £1,500-£2,500. The London Card Show team commented, “It’s incredibly lucky to pull any type of rare card in a pack let alone one of the original 3 starter Pokémon.”
Hector the Collector, the charismatic mascot of the London Card Show, brought an infectious sense of joy to attendees waiting in line and continued to spread excitement throughout the event. With boundless energy, Hector roamed the venue, posing for photos, engaging with fans, and adding a playful touch to the card-collecting experience.
The London Card Show was honoured to host distinguished guests Kenny Anderson, AKA CharacterCube, and Matthew Robert Davies - renowned Lorcana illustrators -along with ex-England striker and West Ham legend Carlton Cole. Fans had the unique opportunity to meet and interact with these special guests, with Kenny Anderson and Matthew Robert Davies showcasing their creativity and passion for Disney character design. Carlton Cole, meanwhile, engaged in a lively Q&A session on the main stage on Sunday, and announced the release of a brand-new trading card with Futera, which was signed by him at the show!
The Kids Zone offered lots of fun activities for the younger attendees which allowed kids to unleash their creativity and craft personalised collectibles. Some of the highlights included box breaks with PokiChloe and PokeDean and a design your own Match Attax Card competition with Topps. On top of that, CharacterCube and Matthew Robert Davies hosted an illustrating session, where young minds got an insight into the creative process behind illustrating Disney characters.
Influencer and Pokémon fan PokiChloe shares what she loves about the show; “My favourite thing is the variation – there’s Pokemon, there’s sports, there’s a main stage, there’s a VR zone, there’s a vlogging zone… it’s literally everything under one roof, so it’s definitely one of the best shows out there.”
Throughout the show, pack battles and trading took place, creating an electric atmosphere, and the London Card Show Trade Night saw collectors gathering from far and wide to share stories and trade cards - from Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! to Football and Disney.
The London Card Show featured a bustling marketplace, where attendees could explore and purchase a large variety of cards and collectibles. From signed football cards to Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece and a host of NFL and Formula 1 trading cards, there were stalls for collectors of all interests.
London Card Show founder and CEO Harry Reynolds comments, “It is always a fantastic feeling to see the card community come together, but to see it continuing to evolve into reaching new audiences and growing show on show is what it is all about and it is an honour to be a part of. I can’t wait to see what the rest of 2024 brings."
Our next show, taking place on 11 & 12 May, is sure to be bigger and better than ever - so don’t forget to grab your tickets and catch all the action at Europe’s Biggest Trading Card event!
