Pioneering foldable ballerina pump and flats brand, Cocorose London, is building on survey findings to issue valuable advice to women heading to party nights in heels, ahead of its first female safety and street-cred awareness day, Blister Friday (November 29).
Cocorose London has carried out research which found that 18% of women who have gone to a party night out wearing heels, have wished they had taken a pair of flats with them, because they felt more vulnerable getting home in their heels.
Alarmingly, 15% have, at some time, also longed for flats as they have thought somebody was following them and wanted to walk more quickly, to get away.
11% admit they have had to walk home barefoot, because the heels have finally become unbearable to wear and this has left them feeling more exposed.
Only 18% have never felt exposed to danger when walking home in heels.
Nearly one-in-five (19%) of those surveyed said that having a pair of back-up flats at hand would help them stay safer and a similar proportion said this would definitely be a safety strategy, if they had to regularly walk home in the dark because of their job or shift work.
Cocorose London is the guardian angel to which many women turn when they want to feel safe getting home or need to swap shoes because the heels are causing pain. A large number of foldable shoes are available within Cocorose London’s range, nestled alongside non-foldable options that are simply super-comfortable, with these including trainers and boots.
The foldable shoes fit neatly inside a little travel purse, which can be taken to the party and kept at hand until the footwear switch is needed. Many are so gorgeous that they are actually worn all night long, avoiding that murder on the dance floor feeling altogether, due to in-built comfort factors such as double-cushioned insoles, padded heels and soft, flexible textiles or leather. The shoes are handcrafted throughout and designed to love the feet.
If shoes are being swapped, a little Cocorose carry bag can be removed from a pocket in the purse and used to carry both purse and heels home. It really is that simple, to have back-up safety at hand.
To help women take the party shoe plunge and secure their safer and street-cred supporting shoes, Cocorose London is offering a 12% Blister Friday discount which will apply to any purchase, except gift vouchers, made between November 29 and Sunday December 15. All the customer need do is use the code BLISTERFRIDAY during checkout. This means flat shoe back-up for all party nights can be secured for as little as £26.40.
Additionally, the hashtag #BlisterFriday will be used by those wishing to raise awareness of the links between shoes and female safety.
Janan Leo, the founder of Cocorose London, says: “We have all watched TV dramas or read novels in which women walking in heels have felt unsafe, or had the feeling they were being followed. It even happened in the recent ‘Dublin Murders’ drama, when the character Lexie had to take off her heels and run barefooted, because she felt in danger. There is no need to increase vulnerability by continuing to wear heels when travelling back from a party. There is similarly no necessity to lose all poise and grace by walking home barefoot in badly blistered feet. Keeping women safe and free from foot-pain – as well as the embarrassment that blisters can cause – is what Blister Friday is all about.”
