London-based fire safety system specialist L.B. Foster TEW Plus is celebrating a double success, receiving full approval certification for both Loss Prevention Standard (LPS) 1014 and 1048 from the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), part of BRE Global.

Having achieved full approval certification for LPS 1014: Requirements for certificated fire detection and alarm systems firms, and LPS 1048: Requirements for the approval of sprinkler system contractors in the UK and Ireland, L.B. Foster TEW Plus is now listed in the BRE’s ‘RedBook Live’ - the industry ‘go to’ online listing for all fire and security products, services and companies certificated by LPCB to LPS and other industry standards.

Emma Boura, Commercial Lead at L.B. Foster Europe, says: “This is an extraordinary achievement and a true reflection of the very high standards that we set ourselves. We are now a fully certificated installer of fire detection, alarm and sprinkler systems, recognised by LPCB and the Building Research Establishment (BRE).

“Achieving full certification provides professional peace of mind and reassurance for our project partners. It says we operate to the highest industry standards for the design, installation, commissioning and servicing of industrial and commercial fire safety and sprinkler systems as set by LPCB.”

L.B. Foster TEW Plus is part of electrical and mechanical engineering specialists L.B. Foster Europe. The company delivers fire detection, alarm and suppression services, together with heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) installations throughout both rail and commercial industries via its Specialist Services Division.

In addition to full approval certification to LPS 1014 and LPS 1048, the company has successfully obtained ISO 9001 (via ACM) Scope Extension - a key requirement for entry in the Loss Prevention Standards scheme.

Neil Sheffield, Commercial Managing Director, L.B. Foster Europe, adds: “This is a major achievement for our Specialist Services team. The LPS 1014 and 1048 Certificates of Conformity add yet more highly regarded certifications to our long list of professional industry accreditations.”

LPS 1014 requires companies to provide evidence of design, installation, commissioning and servicing of fire alarm installations, in accordance with installation rules over a continuous period of not less than two years. At least eight completed installations are inspected and audited as part of the accreditation process. Similarly, LPS 1048 requires companies to provide evidence of design, installation and commissioning of industrial and commercial fire sprinkler systems.
