10 July 2025, Santa Cruz, Bolivia: UKSOL Ltd (www.uksol.uk), the leading British producer and exporter of high-quality solar PV modules, is celebrating the commissioning of Bolivia’s largest private solar plant, for which it supplied 4,500 of its 670-watt, high efficiency solar modules.
The three megawatt (MW), ground-mounted scheme, for major meat producer Frigorífico BFC, was led by UKSOL’s exclusive in-country distributor, BOLPEGAS SRL, in collaboration with construction firm CYMEBOL SRL. BOLPEGAS managed engineering, equipment provision, and comprehensive system commissioning, while CYMEBOL was responsible for assembly and construction.
This latest installation also cements UKSOL’s position as the top-ranking solar panel supplier in Bolivia, with a 34% share of the market – five times greater than its nearest competitor.[1]
At the heart of the scheme are 4,536 of UKSOL’s 670-watt high efficiency solar modules; spread over 3 hectares and strategically oriented northward at a 17° angle to maximize solar capture. The plant also features 21 GoodWe solar inverters and monitoring systems, ensuring energy efficiency, operational stability, and real-time production control.
The ethically sourced UKSOL modules for this project are designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions, while maintaining high efficiency, and are provided with a British-backed 30-year warranty.
Ricardo Carrillo, CEO at BOLPEGAS said: “The incorporation of solar panels from British brand UKSOL, which is globally recognized for quality, durability, and performance, reinforces BOLPEGAS's commitment to offering world-class solutions tailored to local conditions and needs.
“The Santa Cruz solar plant accelerates the adoption of renewable energy in Bolivia, while confirming BOLPEGAS as a leading integrator of solar solutions, backed by globally renowned suppliers such as UKSOL.”
Annual production is estimated at 4,232 megawatt-hours (MWh), which will prevent the emission of 2,592 tons of CO₂ per year. Over its 30-year lifespan, the plant will avoid more than 77,000 tons of polluting emissions, consolidating Frigorífico as a benchmark for industrial sustainability in Bolivia.
Andrew Moore, UKSOL’s CEO and an Export Champion for the Department of International Trade, concluded: ”I’d like to thank all the those involved in delivering this milestone solar project on Bolivia’s ambitious renewable energy roadmap: our own team; development partners BOLPEGAS and CYMEBOL; the UK Department for Business and Trade; and the UK Ambassador to Bolivia, who first introduced us to the opportunity back in 2021.
“UKSOL is proud to fly the flag for British quality and business ethics – both as the top-ranked solar panel supplier in Bolivia, and as an official export champion to more than 50 countries worldwide. We look forward to strengthening our overseas relationships even further under the new UK Trade Strategy, launched just a few weeks ago.”
