Enel X lockdown challenge raises over €2k for Pieta House

Dublin, Ireland, 27 July 2020 – Staff from Enel X, a global leader in the advanced energy management solution sector, came together during an easing lockdown to run 1,885 km – the equivalent distance between their office in Dublin’s Grand Canal Dock and their head office in Rome, Italy, raising funds for the Irish charity, Pieta House.

The Enel X team was keen to help its community during this difficult time. They chose to support Pieta House, an Irish charity that provides free therapy to those engaging in self-harm, with suicidal ideation, or bereaved by suicide. They set a target in June to combine the kilometres run by 27 colleagues from Ireland, UK, Germany and Italy. The aim was to run 1,885km – a distance equivalent to travelling from Enel X’s Dublin office to their HQ in Rome – with Enel X contributing €1 for each kilometre completed. The team, however, exceeded this target and achieved a total of 2,330 km raising €2,330 for Pieta House.

“Everyone has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and charities have been particularly hard hit as many of their traditional fundraising events have been cancelled,” said Tony Whittle, Head of Enel X UK & Ireland. “Our team identified Pieta House as an ‘essential service’ organisation they wanted to support and came up with a socially-distanced activity that not only raised much-needed funds but also helped to keep staff mental and physical wellness in-balance.”

With the help of our therapists and Enel X staff, clients will be supported on a journey from a place of despair to a place of hope and will be in a position to live a more fulfilled life. Pieta looks forward to developing our partnership with Enel X and together making a positive impact on communities across Ireland."
