A new £20m retirement village in Newport has reached a major milestone with the opening of its first show home.

Sundew Court, which is being developed by Integrated Retirement Community (IRC) specialist, Untold Living, is set to open to residents later this year.

The village offers a purpose-built independent retirement community, and will feature 16 bungalows available to purchase, alongside 61 high-quality apartments for rent.

The development, which is being constructed by award winning civil engineering and construction firm McPhillips, is well underway with the first phase of bungalows almost complete and the show bungalow is now open and available for prospective buyers to view.

General manager Adrian Pickard, who has more than three decades of experience in hospitality, said it was an exciting point in the project – as they worked towards a grand opening this Autumn.

“It is a real major milestone for the development that prospective buyers can now see in person, the high-quality living spaces we have to offer at Sundew Court.

“But our development is more than just bricks and mortar. Our entire ethos is developed around independent living and community, and Sundew Court offers older residents the opportunity to rightsize and live independently while also having the reassurance of a friendly and supportive environment.”

The multi-million pound village, which is located opposite Mere Park Garden Centre, just off the A41, aims to establish a benchmark for retirement living in the region, integrating high-end hospitality standards with independent living and care, for those that wish to receive some assistance.

The first residents are expected to start moving into the village in October. As well as homes, the village will include a wide range of on-site amenities, including a restaurant, licensed bar, library, on-site hairdressing salon, a multi-function room and a 24/7/365 onsite care team.
