As the garden retail industry makes final preparations for the forthcoming Garden Re-Leaf Day (Friday 22nd March), the event organisers – the Greenfingers Charity – would like to take a moment to thank this year’s amazingly generous sponsors.
The Garden Re-Leaf Sponsored Walk & Cycle Challenge will this year be supported by a range of leading brands, all of which come together to make the event such an enjoyable and exciting event.
Kickstarting the day will be team at World’s End Garden Centres, who – as the walk and cycle start and end point – will be providing breakfast for all those taking part, as well as refreshments at the end of the challenges, helping weary souls refuel.
Once again this year, SBM Life Science will be sponsoring the medals. Given out to all participants at the finish line, these medals provide a memento from a fun-filled day, and help participants to celebrate their own personal physical achievement. Whilst leading EPoS suppliers, CSY Retail, will be building brand awareness with sponsorship of the lanyards, provided to every walker.
Woodlodge, long-term supporters of Greenfingers, have provided event banners, created on the company’s bespoke printing machines.
Watering gardening experts, Hozelock, are sticking with what they know as the 2019 water sponsors, helping to keep walkers and cyclists hydrated on their journey around the Buckinghamshire countryside. Whilst some of the snacks for the walkers and cyclists will be kindly donated by Tesco in Gerrards Cross and Aylesbury.
LOFA, have kindly confirmed the sponsorship of the post-walk/cycle drink reception, providing everyone with a welcome drink at the finish point.
For those who need assistance throughout the day, Vitax’s Mark Butler along with Greefingers Charity Trustee, Colin Wetherley-Mein, will be on hand with the dedicated support vehicles, helping walkers and cyclists with a range of help or a safe haven if it becomes too much.
Finally, local Personal Trainer, Louise Goodridge, will be leading all the walkers and cyclists in a warm-up session before letting them loose on the Buckinghamshire countryside.
Greenfingers’ Director of Fundraising & Communications, Linda Petrons said: “We must say a huge thank you to all of our sponsors. Without their kindness and generosity, we would not be able to put on the event that we do. Being able to gather support and assistance from a wide range of industry friends means a huge amount to both us as a charity, but also to those children and families that benefit from the work we do – so thank you, thank you, thank you!”
Join the Garden Re-Leaf Sponsored Walk & Cycle Challenge
2019 will be the fifth annual Garden Re-Leaf Walk, and those that have taken part in the full 20-mile walk since the outset will mark having completed their 100th mile in aid of Greenfingers as they cross the finishing line.
For those who prefer pedal power to donning a pair of walking boots, the Garden Re-Leaf Day Cycle Challenge is an excellent way to burn off any lingering excesses from the festive season and raise cash for a great cause in the process. The cycle ride also starts and finishes at Wyevale’s World’s End Garden Centre in Buckinghamshire. This year there will be over 100 people at the start line, testament to the amazing sense of giving and camaraderie that is experienced during the walk and cycle challenges.
The Greenfingers Charity has ambitious plans to raise more than £500,000 this year and hopes that Garden Re-Leaf day will smash the £70,000 record it hit in 2017. The charity has already created 55 gardens at children’s hospices across the UK and is currently building three more; at Claire House Children’s Hospice in Wirral, Richard House Children’s Hospice in London, Grace House Hospice in Sunderland and plans to create more are already underway.
