Lockdown was little fun for many of us, but for the families supported by Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in Huddersfield, the boredom was alleviated a little with the arrival of a special care package from Hipperholme-based, Deco-Pak, the family-run garden landscaping and decorative aggregates specialist.
This special care package, delivered at the start of lockdown, contained Deco-Pak’s bestselling Rockin’ Pebbles and Pens. These sets allowed the families supported by Forget Me Not to let their creative juices flow, with the hospice gardens quickly becoming home to lots of beautifully decorated pebbles, including many adorned with rainbows to show support for the incredible efforts of the NHS during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Talking about this special delivery, Gemma Redford, Regional Fundraiser at Forget Me Not, said: “I’d like to thank Deco-Pak for the incredibly generous gesture. The Rockin’ Pebbles care packages were an absolute lifeline during lockdown. The parents of our children found this time incredibly difficult but knowing that we still had support from outside the hospice meant a great deal to us all. The kind gift also enabled us all to forget about the outside for short while as we got busy being creative. It really did make a huge difference when it was needed most.”
Gemma’s comments were echoed by one of the parents of a child supported by Forget Me Not, Chloe. Chloe’s mother said: “Each bag contained acrylic pens and pebbles and I have to admit I loved it just as much as Chloe, so much so I have since purchased more so we can keep the creativity going. We've had so much fun collecting more rocks, looking at pictures to inspire our next pebble project, as well as endless fun hiding the rocks in our garden and within Forget Me Not’s gardens. Receiving these bags was such a lovely treat. We had been shielding since early March so to receive such a kind and generous surprise was just wonderful.”
The relationship between Deco-Pak and Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice is set to continue as the company confirms it will be donating more products to the forthcoming garden revamp at the hospice. Deco-Pak’s Craig Hall, said: “We are so glad that the children and families at Forget Me Not were able to enjoy our Rockin’ Pebbles during lockdown. Delivering the care package was the least we could do, and are really looking forward to being able to visit the hospice soon to see all their creative work in its full glory! We’re also looking forward to being able to support the updates to the hospice’s garden, as we are endlessly in awe of the work the hospice undertakes daily, and being able to help – even in the smallest of ways – is a great honour for all the team here at Deco-Pak.”
