A Bath musician who released her first album this year gave up her cafe job and performed as Taylor Swift for birthday and hen parties has credited her success in part to the support of other women who have pushed her to achieve.
Poppy Rose, whose debut album ‘I’m Ready Now’ launched on 11th May has seen major changes in her career in 2024 and credits it to hard work and a team of women who have held her accountable and pushed her out of her comfort zone.
Poppy draws her musical inspiration from artists like Vance Joy, Kina Grannis, and Taylor Swift. The Goals Gals aims to help some of the 1.62 million self-employed women in the UK reach their business goals.
Poppy said “ Before joining The Goals Gals I was living a very different life in Berlin, touring around playing living room concerts whilst doing dog walking on the side.. I joined The Goals Gals in a time of transition when I decided to move back to the UK and didn’t know what I was going to do. I moved to Bath alone, didn’t know anyone, and due to Covid, my live music work dried up and I was lost and in a very low place.”
Since then Poppy’s career has transformed as well as releasing an album she has been able to give up her part-time job and concentrate on her music full-time.
She continues “I truly believe I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of Gaby and Ali who founded The Goals Gals and all the other women in the group that have supported me. The group chat is my go-to place when I have a scary email to write and the other women who are based all around the country really lift me up. The weekly accountability calls have kept me on track with my goals as every week I’m doing something that brings them closer.”
Poppy’s next big goal is to ‘continue building her business and to enjoy every single day.’
Gaby one of the founders of The Goals Gals said: “We are so excited that Poppy has managed to produce an album and is going from strength to strength. It was because of women like Poppy that we decided to start The Goals Gals as we found that there were so many women running businesses, with loads of ideas of how to scale up and grow but they can struggle to make time to work on their business as they are too busy doing either client work or focusing on the wrong areas. “
“The Goals Gals help those women carve out time each week to focus on their own goals and have the chance to report back to other members, which helps them stay on track. We also offer virtual co-working, training, and events. We hope that as we grow we’ll see more of our members have success, like Poppy, whatever their business.”
The Goals Gals are accepting new members from around the country from 5th September but there are only 10 spaces available. To find out more visit www.thegoalsgals.co.uk. Poppy’s music can be found on all music streaming services.
