19th December 2022, Cirencester: Cirencester-based cybersecurity firm, Core to Cloud, has raised more than £4,000 for Swindon breast cancer charity, Brighter Futures, following a full calendar of bold, creative and inspirational fundraising challenges.

The latest effort saw seven members of the team test their nerve by taking part in a daring skydive at GoSkyDive, Salisbury, jumping from 10,000ft in tandem, reaching speeds of 125mph. Those taking part included Co-founder & CEO, James Cunningham; Head of Public Sector, Josh Duce; Key Account Manager, Lauren Nield and Finance Director, Matt White.

The skydive follows a packed schedule of fundraising events, including a Great British Bake-Off style competition, where members of the team showcased their baking talents, and themed pink days, all in aid of Brighter Futures. Over the last 12 months, the company has gone on to smash its initial target of £4,000, and the challenge is now on to raise £5,000.

Brighter Futures is dedicated to supporting people with cancer, while raising awareness of the 5000 women who are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK. Brighter Futures is the registered charity of Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and supports services at Great Western Hospital in Swindon, and in community health sites across the local area.

This latest challenge followed Core to Cloud’s Influential Women in Tech event, that took place last month. The event saw senior female tech and business leaders come together to help inspire the next generation of women into IT. The event also acted as a fundraiser for Brighter Futures and included a moving account and inspirational talk from Mental Health Advocate and breast cancer survivor Louise McMilan.

James Cunningham, Co-founder & Chief Executive of Core to Cloud, said: “We have been fundraising throughout the year and I am thrilled by the effort from the whole team to help raise much needed awareness and donations for Brighter Futures. The work the charity does, and support offered to those living in the Southwest, is vital. Brighter Futures is an important resource to people going through a difficult time and is a cause close to the hearts of the Core to Cloud team.”

Kenresa Stratford, Community and Events Fundraising Manager at Brighter Futures, added: “We would like to thank Core to Cloud for its incredible fundraising for the Breast Cancer Centre at the Great Western Hospital. The team have really challenged themselves, raising money through their Influential Women in Tech event, as well as taking on the skydive.

“The centre will be able to use this donation to continue to improve the services for the women who attend the clinics. We’d like to extend our gratitude to those who attended the Core to Clouds events, and supported the team who braved the jump from 10,000 feet!”
