A Northumberland castle has resiliently found a way of preventing some couples from having to rearrange their wedding for the second or third time, following the devastating announcement that Northumberland would be in Tier 3 of the Covid-19 tier system.
Langley Castle Hotel, located near to Haydon Bridge, saw some couples left completely distraught after the announcement on November 26, which did not reflect the Covid-19 infection rate around the very rural venue. Some even said they did not have the energy left to rearrange their wedding yet again, having already done so on a few occasions.
Having had nine weddings in the diary for December, due to the castle’s can-do attitude when it comes to making wedding dreams come true, Langley Castle’s executive general manager, has again proved undefeatable.
Langley Castle has now devised a tier system of its own when it comes to weddings that can be staged under the current Government tier regulations.
In Langley’s Wedding Tier 1, following consultation Northumberland Registrars, Langley Castle is able to offer couples a ceremony only. This will allow some to finally tie the knot and celebrate their love, with a maximum of 15 guests in total.
In Wedding Tier 2, the couple can have their ceremony within the ambience-filled castle with up to 15 people in total, but also have a Champagne hamper to take away, so they can celebrate privately, back in their own home.
In Wedding Tier 3 of Langley’s tiers, and permissible only if restrictions lift on December 16, or thereafter, and permit staying guests, the couple can have their ceremony, a takeaway Champagne hamper and an overnight stay, including dinner, bed and breakfast.
Couples can enjoy these options as one of Langley’s hugely popular Weddings for Two, if they wish to have the intimacy and togetherness which many couples have enjoyed this year. For these weddings, Langley Castle can supply two witnesses.
Langley’s Margaret Livingstone-Evans says: “I could not see couples have their marriage dreams ripped up again, so I spoke to the registrars, with a view to seeing what could be done, rather than what could not. This has enabled us to again lead the way when it comes to weddings development, proving, I think, that we truly care about our couples and are not prepared to let tiers stop wed-time.
“This is not about Langley making money, as we will earn virtually nothing from this. What it is about is going the extra mile for people who are in love and just want to be together in this most difficult year. I think it says a lot about us as a venue.”
