Northumberland venue delivers purity, simplicity and mindfulness during social distancing

A Northumberland wedding venue is taking bookings for what it believes will be a UK first – the ‘Bubble Wedding’ – as it creates an exclusive-use, castle-to-yourself experience that can work within the confines of social distancing (subject to government guidelines at all times) whilst also encompassing the mindfulness and simplicity that it believes couples now crave.

Stunning Langley Castle is vowing to make fairy-tale dreams come true over the next 10 months, by creating in-the-moment weddings which are intimate, focused on the couple and their very closest friends and relatives, and with a purity rare to find in modern weddings.

Thinking outside of the ring box, the history-rich fortified castle has created two unique and special offers. Both enable brides and grooms or same-sex couples to have the exclusive use of the medieval castle for themselves and their small party of guests and make the day about the couple, not about the hullaballoo around them.

A Bubble with Bubbles wedding will pop the cork of a bubble of 10 people, including the couple getting married. This beautiful concept will enable the couple to take their vows with the people meaning the most to them, marrying at the castle and having all nine of the amazing bedrooms in the castle available for their bubble’s overnight accommodation.

For an incredible price of £4500, they will get the castle to themselves, enjoy after-wedding canapes with three choices of nibbles, tipple on after-ceremony drinks from a specially created drinks station and tuck in to a social distancing compliant gala buffet, which will include salmon, cold meats, artisan breads, a selection of salads and desserts.

For drinks, they can sip on half a bottle of wine per person and, of course, relish the bubbles – a glass of house champagne with which to toast the happy couple. Then, in the evening, a buffet of bacon stotties will round the magical day off, before the guests take to their four-poster or period beds, in the atmospheric rooms within Langley’s seven-feet thick walls.

Again, working within the boundaries of what it can do in a compliant way, Langley Castle has also created a Key to the Castle wedding package for just £6500. This again gives the wedding party the freedom to enjoy Langley to themselves but is for a group of 18 people, sharing the nine castle rooms. All elements of the Bubble with Bubbles wedding are included, so the moment the sturdy castle door is locked, it is their own wedding fortress, complete with amazing window seats set into the castle walls, mesmerising chandeliers, dramatic drapes and tapestries and fairy-tale staircases. Knights in shining armour are even on-hand.

Should a bubble be bigger than 10, but less than 18, the castle can accommodate that too. It will also continue to offer its incredibly popular ‘Weddings for Two’, for the ultimate in-the-moment wedding. Whichever options appeals, there are also 10 acres of grounds at the wedding bubble’s disposal for pictures, contemplation and pauses for thought.

Langley Castle’s Executive General Manager, Margaret Livingstone-Evans, and Assistant Manager, Bob Rutherford, will be offering completely private wedding show rounds. for a maximum of two people at a time, to enable couples and then perhaps their parents, to fully appreciate the fairy-tale wedding setting. Images and video links can be sent to couples who cannot visit in person.

Margaret says: “We believe that the smaller numbers will make the wedding day even more special for couples, bringing an intimacy and purity to the occasion, in a castle that never fails to deliver a wow factor. We have evolved our wedding product to cater for couples wishing to take their vows and believe many will appreciate that mindfulness and simplicity in a wedding give it a truly special dynamic. We believe bubble weddings will become the new norm but for now they are a trend-setting option.”

The bubble-based social distancing wedding is the third ‘first’ that Langley Castle has achieved on the wedding scene. It was also the first wedding venue in its county to offer civil marriages 25 years ago and the first in the UK to offer Game of Thrones-style weddings.

The two new offers are available up to and including March 31, 2021. To find out more, please call 01434 688888 or email manager@langleycastle.com More information about the castle is at www.langleycastle.co.uk  Langley Castle Hotel has been a national ‘Best Hotel for Romance’ winner and was North East Hotel of the Year 2018.
