Couples Vowing to Have Exquisite ‘Two-Become-One’ Castle Weddings

A Northumberland hotel is witnessing unprecedented demand for ‘Weddings for Two’, as couples grasp the true essence of a marriage and refuse to wait to celebrate their love and legally make two become one.

Langley Castle Hotel has lured couples from across the UK for its most intimate of weddings, whether that has been an American bride and London-based groom who travelled north, having fallen in love with a picture of the castle, or same-sex couples wanting to take their vows simply but meaningfully.

The Weddings for Two option has never been more popular and, in a period in which people have had more time to reflect on what really matters in life and on simple joys, such as nature and wellbeing, it is easy to see why.  They are full of mindfulness, have an amazing setting, are social distancing compliant and deliver incredible value-for-money, being both wedding and honeymoon combined.

A Langley Castle Wedding for Two focuses firmly on the couple’s commitment to each other. They arrive, via a red carpet, in Langley Castle’s mesmerising drawing room, lit by chandeliers and set off by a stunning picture window framed with massive drapes.  Against this backdrop, vows are made serenely, in front of two provided witnesses.

The couple can then enjoy champagne and canapés in one of the most-loved features at the national ‘Best for Romance’ hotel – a raised and romantic window seat set into seven-foot walls, or otherwise simply curl up on a sofa or in front of a roaring log fire.

Special memories and photos can be created in the lawned and woodland 10-acre grounds, knowing a fabulous evening’s dining awaits in the romance-fuelled Josephine’s restaurant.

Two or three nights of we-time are spent in the castle feature room of their choice, whether they wish to sleep in four-poster bed, enjoy a sauna and spa bath, or be tucked in the top-of-the-castle Tower Room love nest.  The following morning, they can gaze lovingly at each other whilst enjoying a full Northumbrian breakfast.

All of the charming simplicity, mindfulness and get-away essence of this intimate wedding experience costs less than £2000, with the wedding and two-night stay plus dining costing £1520 and a three-night wedding and stay being just £1895.

Langley Castle’s executive manager, Margaret Livingstone-Evans, says, “These weddings are probably the most intimate and exquisite in England and wholly unique, given the authenticity of our castle and its architectural features. These create an ambience and romance like no other – a romantic bubble encapsulated in what is literally a wedding stronghold keeping the pressures of the outside world at bay.”

Couples wishing to enquire about a Wedding for Two should contact Margaret Livingstone-Evans on weddings@langleycastle.com

Langley Castle, built in 1350, is located in Langley-on-Tyne, Northumberland and is one of the few authentic, fortified medieval castles in England. It has a rich history, with strong links to Jacobite rebellions, is located just a stone's throw from the World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall and boasts features including battlements, seven-feet-thick walls, window seats set into the walls and the best example of medieval garderobes in Europe. It is one of the most exquisite wedding venues in the north and also offers a wide range of options when it comes to exclusive use, with the castle being available for weddings, family celebrations, Bar Mitzvahs and Bat Mitzvahs, D&D-style events and a wide variety of corporate functions.
