Commercial insurance broker, McCarron Coates, has been shortlisted for two awards in the British Claims Awards 2025.
The Leeds-based broker, which specialises in sectors such as fleet transport, scaffolding, roofing and woodworking, is a finalist for the Broker of the Year and Commercial Lines Broker of the Year awards.
The nominations reflect its cradle-to-grave claims service, in the hands of a dedicated in-house team, which handles around 2500 claims at any one time.
The recognition also give kudos to a series of First Notification of Loss initiatives that have helped to significantly reduce clients’ claims reporting times and achieved crucial day-one claims reporting in 81% of cases, across all clients. The claims management strategies within the brokerage have included developing a cutting-edge claims app, which dovetails with a QR-code reporting system and makes claims reporting fast and efficient.
These tools are backed by a bespoke online portal, featuring a real-time claims performance dashboard, covering all lines of business. This tracks driver behaviour, claims types, claims frequencies, cost per vehicle and location hotspots.
There is also an intuitive loss ratio tracker, which sends automated alerts should the target loss ratio for the client be exceeded.
All of the data is marshalled in such a way as to consistently help improve a client’s risk and operational efficiencies – something the judges clearly noted.
With a strong emphasis on the identification and eradication of fraudulent claims too, to help protect clients and their loss ratios further, the holistic service provided has put McCarron Coates in the frame for the two awards.
Should it be successful, these will add to two prestigious Insurance Times Awards, won in November 2024, which took the total of awards already in the trophy cabinet to six.
Claims manager at McCarron Coates, Steve Stockley, says, “We hope to continue our winning track-record when it comes to industry awards and to be able to secure success at the finals of the British Claims Awards in June. That would be a huge boost for the claims team, which works so diligently, behind the scenes, to ensure that clients can be on a continuous trajectory of claims-record improvement. Our goal is to allow clients to take informed decisions within their businesses, which can tangibly reduce their claims incidence figures. By keeping data at the heart of our process, this goal is one on which we continually deliver.”
