How to overcome stress and anxiety

Read Time: 3 mins

Can anxiety, phobias and other mental health issues truly be cured? Yes, but only by harnessing a 600-million-year-old part of our brain, says renowned Essex therapist Terence Watts.

Anxiety levels are at an all-time high. There’s so much going on in the world and we're exhausted after two years of the pandemic.

You may not realise it, but we're all affected at an almost primeval level. The uncertainty of the world around us and the horrible images on the news trigger our basic fear mechanisms and we pick up on other people's fears and anxieties too.

With mental health services stretched to the limit, people are increasingly turning to self-help to feel better. A new book out this Thursday 17 March aims to help as many people as possible.

BWRT: Reboot your life with BrainWorking Recursive Therapy explains the science behind how anxiety and many other mental health issues are triggered by a 600 million year old part of our brain.

Written by author, psychotherapist and Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, Terence Watts explains how you can harness this part of your brain using a ground-breaking technique called BWRT (brainworking recursive therapy) to overcome a range of different challenges including, but not limited to:

  • Getting the very best out of any major changes in life
  • Boosting self-worth
  • Overcoming anxiety in all its different forms
  • Dealing with phobias and getting rid of them for good
  • Enhancing performance

Created 10 years ago, BWRT is now used by 2,500+ therapists around the world including the UK, US and South Africa where it's employed by psychologists in prisons, the military and universities to treat all manner of mental health issues.

What makes BWRT different? Unlike traditional therapies it works on the ‘reptilian brain’ that controls our ‘flight or fight’ response and stops it by creating new neural pathways which means problems can be resolved in 1-4 sessions rather than weeks or months.

It’s currently undergoing clinical trials as an alternative for treating PTSD and has been referred to as the “silver bullet therapists have been looking for.”

Until now BWRT has only been available through trained therapists but thanks to this new book, this cutting-edge therapy is available in the comfort of your own home.

Terence says: “This book, and BWRT more generally, is suitable for anyone wanting to rewire their psychological responses to life’s challenges.
“It shows that although we don’t necessarily have free will in the way you usually think of it – just about everything in your conscious mind has been processed and acted upon before you’re aware of it – we do have free won’t.
“Essentially, you can sometimes decide not to act on an instinctive reaction. My new book shows readers exactly how to achieve this.”

The book is available on Amazon from Thursday 17 March 2022. For a sneak preview of the book, click here.
