CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE: WOMEN IN TRANSPORT & LOGISTICS
20 November 2023 – The 2024 everywoman in Transport & Logistics Awards, launched to inspire more women to progress careers in the industry, are open for nominations until 29 January 2024. Now in their 17th year, these awards shine a spotlight on the varied and increasing avenues of opportunities available in the traditionally male-dominated industry and celebrate the important role that women play within it. In doing so, the programme aims to help increase the number of women working within this pivotal industry, who only account for 21% of the industry’s 1.5million employees.
Despite the strides made, the transport and logistics industry continues to face challenges in attracting and retaining female talent. everywoman recognizes the critical importance of diversity in driving innovation, efficiency, and sustainability. Studies consistently demonstrate that diverse teams foster greater creativity, problem-solving abilities, and overall success within organizations.
Maxine Benson MBE, Co-Founder of everywoman, comments:
“We believe in the power of diversity to fuel progress and innovation within the industry. The everywoman in Transport & Logistics Awards highlight the exceptional contributions of women in shaping the future of the sector. The transport and logistics industry contributed £214 billion to the UK economy in 2020.[1] It is vital that we attract, retain, and advance women in the industry to unlock innovation and drive growth, not just for organisations but for the UK economy. The awards play a key role in shining a spotlight on some of the most exceptional women whose innovation, skills, resilience, and leadership will inspire future generations of women to fulfil their career ambitions in this vibrant and economy boosting industry.”
The industry’s main priorities revolve around continued advancement and deployment of technology, such as AI, and the focus on Net Zero, which will see the decarbonisation of all sectors within the UK economy to reach the net zero target by 2050. Net Zero is a huge undertaking by the Transport and Logistics industry and it is for this reason that the Sustainability Champion Award was added in 2023, recognising the importance of environmental protection and the exemplary contribution women have made in transforming the sector.
THE 2024 AWARD CATEGORIES ARE:
There will be two winners per category (Leader and Above & Beyond) as well as one recipient of the Tech Innovator, International Inspiration, Industry Champion, Male Agent of Change, Apprentice of the Year, Sustainability Champion, and Woman of the Year Award.
