YORKSHIRE HOME TO UK’S BEST CAMPSITE AS PITCHUP.COM REVEALS 2025 GOLD AWARD WINNERS
Wednesday 8th April: Pitchup.com, the UK’s largest search and booking platform for outdoor accommodation, has revealed its 2025 Gold Awards, celebrating the very best campsites, glamping stays and caravan parks across Great Britain – as chosen by nearly 200,000 customer reviews.
Topping the list this year is The Spinney Wild Camping in East Yorkshire, which achieved a flawless 10/10 rating from guests, earning it the title of the UK’s best campsite. The results highlight a growing appetite for back-to-nature breaks, with simple, nature-led sites outperforming more traditional holiday hotspots.
It is followed by Owl Valley Glamping in Devon and The Wee Caravan Park in Scotland, while the South West emerges as the strongest-performing region overall, home to the highest number of Gold-rated sites.
To be included in the awards, sites must have achieved an average rating of at least 8/10 from a minimum of 20 verified customer reviews in 2025, ensuring the results reflect genuine guest experiences.
🏆 UK’S BEST CAMPSITE: THE SPINNEY WILD CAMPING, EAST YORKSHIRE
Scoring a perfect 10/10 from 32 reviews, The Spinney Wild Camping has claimed the top spot thanks to its peaceful, no-frills approach and strong focus on nature. Located in East Yorkshire, the site offers a refreshingly simple camping experience – something guests clearly value, with 100% saying they would return.
Despite not being a traditional holiday hotspot, East Yorkshire is now firmly on the map, with this hidden gem proving that standout camping experiences can be found off the beaten track.
The site owner, Neil Marwood, said: “I’m ecstatic to have won this award – thrilled to bits. I can’t quite believe it. We’re a site without any bells and whistles, so it is a bit of a surprise. I think what makes our place special is that we greet everyone personally. We’re close to York, in a little town famous for its gardens and lakes, and there’s also a local pub within walking distance along a canal, making it the perfect location.
“We don’t pack people in and allow them to pitch where they want. Quality of sleep is also valued with quiet hours after 10pm, which I think parents especially appreciate. I’d like to thank my wife, Cherie, for all her support – this site is our pride and joy. And a massive thank you to everyone who took the time to give us such wonderful reviews.”
🥈 RUNNER-UP: OWL VALLEY GLAMPING, DEVON
Coming in a close second is Owl Valley Glamping in Devon, which also achieved a perfect 10/10 score from 22 reviews.
Set within a private nature reserve just minutes from award-winning beaches, the site offers a luxurious outdoor experience, with guests praising its cosy, well-equipped accommodation, helpful hosts and popular wood-fired hot tubs.
