Cairns, Queensland – An intimate gig, dubbed ‘Savannah Sounds on the Reef’, was staged on a state-of-the-art floating pontoon off Cairns on the Great Barrier Reef to acknowledge 160 community heroes.
This exclusive show was the first of its kind ever to be held on the Great Barrier Reef and was a tribute to the community heroes who had volunteered to help in cyclone, flood, and fire clean-ups and long-standing selfless community members who volunteered their time to keep the local environment pristine.
Once on board, the heroes and their guests had the opportunity to snorkel, swim, and experience the reef before enjoying three hours of live music with the spectacular Moore Reef and sweeping ocean horizons as their backdrop.
This concert was a prelude to the upcoming ‘Savannah in the Round’, an annual country music event to be held in October.
This groundbreaking concert highlighted the resilience of Tropical North Queensland’s communities while showcasing the stunning beauty of the Great Barrier Reef, an innovative blend of music, nature, and gratitude.
The event was supported by the Great Barrier Reef Foundation, in recognition of the event’s ability to deliver a proactive message about efforts to protect the reef and ocean habitats.
