Hereford, UK – 25 July 2024 – Wye Valley Brewery is thrilled to announce that its esteemed founder, Peter Amor, has been honoured with the title of Honorary Freeman of the City of Hereford. This prestigious accolade, conferred by the City Council, recognises Peter’s outstanding contributions to the city’s economy, the brewing industry both locally and nationally, and his unwavering support for local charities.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the Council Chamber, Town Hall, Hereford, on Saturday, 20 July 2024, at 2 pm. This honour is the highest distinction the City Council can bestow, celebrating Peter’s remarkable service and dedication to the Hereford community.
Peter Amor founded Wye Valley Brewery in 1985, and under his visionary leadership, it has grown into one of Herefordshire’s most cherished breweries. His passion for brewing and commitment to quality have not only enriched the local brewing industry but also helped promote Herefordshire’s rich brewing heritage. Beyond the brewery, Peter has made significant contributions to local charities including; St Michaels Hospice, SANDS, Veterans, Men’s mental health, Royal British Legion, Food Bank, Little Princess Trust, Blind College - to name a few, too many to mention!
“Over the years together we’ve raised close to £1 million.” Said Pip Preece, Landlady at The Barrels where Wye Valley Brewery was founded.

This accolade is not just a personal achievement for me but a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at Wye Valley Brewery and to our many beer fans."
