Start-Rite exceeds all industry testing standards with its rigorous quality assurance mark.

Start-Rite shoes are tested on a number of different surfaces, in line with modern living. The archaic industry requirement is one surface: slate.

Waterproof shoes are flexed underwater 30,000 times in a water tank. Rip-tape fastenings are opened and closed 5,000 times. D-rings, stitch strength and super strong nylon bonded threads are double industry standard requirement. Every new style shoe is trialled by children over a three month period. If a prototype shoe doesn’t look as good as new after the equivalent of 100,000 steps then it doesn’t make it into the range.
