The UK’s first double action pivot door with fully tested fire and smoke performance has been developed by Forza Doors, combining high-performance safety with striking, versatile aesthetics.

The FD60S Double Action Pivot Door delivers a fully tested 60-minute fire and smoke solution for pivot door assemblies in commercial environments.

Available as a double-door configuration, it gives architects and designers greater freedom to create bold, functional schemes while meeting stringent fire and smoke safety requirements.

Forza Doors will be discussing the new system with architects, contractors and specifiers at Clerkenwell Design Week (19–21 May).

The product is the result of more than a year of engineering development, responding to significant demand from architecture practices for a fully tested pivot solution with smoke control.

In corridor settings in particular, the pivot functionality allows doors to be held open flush with the walls - creating a sleek, minimal design that wouldn't be possible with traditional hinges.

Forza Doors managing director Will Hunnam said: “We’re committed to developing timber products that elevate design without compromising safety.

“The FD60S Double Action Pivot Door is a perfect example. It’s a solution that architects and designers have been asking for, combining compliance, innovation and peace of mind in one product.”

Safety has been engineered into every aspect of the system. Pivot doors present specific challenges compared with traditional hinged doors, so Forza Doors developed a bespoke threshold seal to ensure smooth operation while maintaining certified fire and smoke protection.

The door has been designed to complement high end interiors. It is available in more than 30 wood veneers, over 50 laminate finishes and a wide range of painted options, enabling seamless integration into commercial projects.

This breadth of choice supports close collaboration between designers and Forza Doors to achieve both compliance and design intent.

Each door is manufactured in the UK and delivered by Forza Doors' own transport fleet, reducing logistics emissions. Embodied carbon is 6.27 kg CO₂ eq/m² for double leaf flush frame, and FSC® certified materials are available on request, with the potential for up to 100 per cent sustainable sourcing depending on specification.

The FD60S Double Action Pivot Door reflects Forza Doors’ commitment to combining beauty, innovation and safety in architectural products, offering specifiers an exceptional option for high profile commercial interiors.

The product was a finalist for Product of the Year in the FX Design Awards in 2025.
