Grant Associates scoops five awards at the Singapore Landscape Architecture Awards 2025

Landscape architecture practice, Grant Associates, is celebrating a landmark achievement after winning two Gold, two Silver and one Merit award at the coveted Singapore Landscape Architecture Awards (SLAA).

The wins recognise the practice’s work on projects in Singapore and the region — The Reef at King’s Dock; Grand Hyatt Singapore; and Elementum & the Rail Corridor, alongside the Sino-Singapore Friendship Park in Tianjin Eco-City, China.

Adding to the celebratory evening, the Reef at King’s Dock also received the Outstanding Award in the Residential (Built) category at the International Federation of Landscape Architects Asia-Pacific region (IFLA APR) Landscape Architecture & Luminary Awards 2025, underscoring its significance as one of the region’s most innovative waterfront developments.

Completed in 2024, the Reef at King’s Dock reimagines urban living at the water’s edge. The design integrates Singapore’s first floating residential recreation deck, a pioneering Green Dock Wall, and a series of elevated hammocks that allow residents to experience the rhythms of tide and marine life. These landscape innovations stem from deep research and multidisciplinary collaboration aimed at restoring coastal ecologies, and transforming the experience of luxury waterfront living.

Grand Hyatt Singapore reopened in 2024 following a major renovation that included a complete reimagination of its extensive landscapes. Former hardscape areas were replaced with lush biodiverse planting, creating a sequence of shaded courtyards, garden terraces and water-cooled outdoor rooms. These thriving landscapes are now central to the hotel’s refreshed identity, offering guests a restorative tropical retreat in the heart of Orchard Road. The project drew praise from the SLAA jury, citing that the landscape “stands out as a great example of Singapore’s City in Nature vision”.

Elementum, a work-live-play campus at the convergence of the Rail Corridor and One-north district, features landscapes that weave the building seamlessly into the Buona Vista Node. Lively plazas, porous ground-level gardens, and verdant roof terraces reinforce this site as a social and ecological connector within Singapore’s expanding nature-based urban network. The SLAA jury noted that the project “redefines the role of landscape architecture in commercial developments, placing ecology, movement, and wellness at the core of workplace design.”

In China’s Tianjin Eco-City, Grant Associates designed the Sino-Singapore Friendship Park showcasing an integrative landscape that transforms a former saline and degraded site into a thriving green space. Combining cultural narratives, ecological restoration, and contemporary public amenities, the park demonstrates how degraded land can be reshaped into an accessible, biodiverse destination for people and wildlife.

Grant Associates opened its Singapore office in 2012, which today has 21 employees. The Singapore team has been at the helm of delivering enriching landscape projects across the region, from the renowned Gardens by the Bay to the new Rainforest Wild Asia attraction at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. 

This year’s SLAA celebrations were particularly meaningful, coinciding with SILA’s 40th anniversary. This milestone highlights the growing importance, visibility and maturity of landscape architecture in Singapore. As Singapore continues advancing its “City in Nature” vision, these award-winning landscapes affirm Grant Associates’ ongoing commitment to the region, designing places where communities and nature can thrive together.
